Used the Panasonic Remote do you like it?

Hello

Hoping to upgrade my G7 to something newer soon as the Remote App does not work so well with the G7. I assume you can't just update your camera and the new firmware will allow better app function?

I think when I last checked one needed to have the newer Panasonics before you get full screen monitoring.

I require the ability to remotely self shoot and make amendments when the camera is not at arms length.

Appreciate any of your experience or input.

Re: Used the Panasonic Remote do you like it?

Hi Trevor. I constantly have problems with the app connecting to the camera and phone, which I suspect is because I'm not doing things in the right sequence (I've read the guidance but it's not helped). Would you mind describing what you do (including initial set up)? Thanks

Adrian this video from Graham Houghton who produces a lot of great videos on Panasonic gear P&S and ILC. Other than distance I have had no problems with the app on the FZ1000 or my various m43 camera over the years

I'll assume James's post below tells you what you want.  If it doesn't come back.  It's a bit complex so I can't recall it all without working through it.

Re: Used the Panasonic Remote do you like it?

It is at least true to my older Panny (GX7), that any strong Wi-Fi interference around might cause the remote connection unstable.

A few years ago, I had set up a remote AV transmitter in my living room to transmit broad brand TV signals from the decoder on one side to the TV on the other side of my living room. While I set up the remote connection between GX7 and my smart phone/tablet (aged models in today's standard), I was good outdoor or in other rooms if my apartment, it was very unstable ~ failure connection in my living room. Switched off that AV transmitter all problem gone.

So, if you have an unstable Wi-Fi connection, worth to check any strong interference nearby. Normally I could get a stable connection of around 30~50 feet straight line distance.

The app worked flawlessly on my old phone and refuses to connect with my new one.  No idea why, tried everything under the sun to fix it to no avail.
