Regarding Manual Flash/Trigger Hot-Shoe GND Pin

Hi there.

There are some manual Flash or Transmitter which Hot-Shoe have only 1 pin i.e. Trigger Pin. But there is no metal Hot-Shoe plate or any GND Pin.

How this works without GND?

So far I know for a Manual flash there should be at least two signal ... Trigger and GND (from Metal Plate). Like below:

Thanks.

Regards.

Your top photo may be showing the unit upside down? Assuming that it is similar to the one shown in the link below (Third item).

Yes, I am talking about the Male Hot-Shoe connector which placed in the bottom side and connects to Camera Female Hot-Shoe.

Any advise how the GND contact is done?

Thanks.

Thanks, I was also assumed it should be something under the plastic plate.

However, I don't have this or similar Adapter and here at my country its not available though. But I like to know how the GND connection works. If anyone can advise with any pictures of internal will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Look from the side.

The ground connector is in the slit of the adapter's foot.

This is the foot on a digital flash. It has some data pins in addition to the trigger pin.

The side connector of the flash or adapter connects to the rail of the hotshoe.

Notice how the paint has been removed from the rail where the ground connection is, to ensure a good connection.

I don't understand the question. What do you mean by "Flash Mode number"?

The pictures show an Olympus FL-600 flash and the hotshoe is on an Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera.
