*** Challenge 303 - Dynamic ***

Challenge 303 - Dynamic

The challenge is to depict a dynamic subject in a still picture. Long shutter speed blur and panning techniques are obvious candidates but not exclusively so. A race horse or athlete frozen in motion is equally valid. Landscape, people, sports, vehicles, pets, wildlife, machinery, plants - go for it.

Guidelines:

  1. You may post up to three photos taken with any Nikon camera.
  2. I'd like as many entries as possible so photos can be taken on any date.
  3. However, it is more difficult to take a good photograph in the next week or so, than over a whole "career" so entries taken after today's date will be given extra credit in the final assessment.
  4. The challenge will end on Sunday 6th September, 2020 at midnight British Summer Time.
  5. I propose to break with tradition and post the results in the same thread as that way the participants receive a notification but also anyone looking through the thread later can see the whole story.

Some examples, but please let your imagination run free:

Small print:

"The host chooses the winners and honourable mentions. The host's decision is final. Remember, it's all about fun, sharing, and learning. The winner of this challenge then hosts the next challenge, judges the winner of that one, and so on it goes. The winner of this challenge will have 48 hours to post the next challenge. If that doesn't happen, 2nd place will have 24 hours to do so, then it's up to 3rd place."

Submission Posting Guidelines

"Challenge is open to any Nikon camera. Post each one of your submissions in its own reply to this post. It's best to embed an image in its own post rather than linking from somewhere else (you'll get more views that way). If you want people to give you constructive comments and criticism, ask for C&C. Feel free to post photos "for exhibition only" if you want to share more than two or won't be available to host the next challenge, just let us know that in your posts, and title them as "Exhibition" shots. Please, NO LINKING IMAGES OFF SITE. You can do all the post-processing you want, but try to preserve the EXIF so we can see the date taken and which camera, lens, and settings were used. If you know the EXIF won't come with the image, let us know that kind of stuff in the text of your post."

Comment Posting Guidelines

"Feel free to post comments on the images but do be polite/positive. If you would give someone else's submission a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, click on the green "Like?" thumb on the top right of the post, so we know which images were most popular. The host will make up their own mind which images best fit their topic without being influenced by that."

ENTRY3: Gannet in flight

I could have posted 3 horse jumping, 3 canooing or 3 BIF, but I thought it would be more interesting to do 1 of each.

Re: ENTRY2: Kayaking at Tees Barage

Love your horse and kayak shots.  The looks on the people's faces and poor horsey.  I hope he wasn't hurt!  Sorry I don't care much for bird pics but  it was a good shot.

Thanks Kathy.

Neither horse nor rider were hurt - if I remember correctly she recovered (as unlikely as it looks). I could be wrong but I think she asked for a copy of the photo afterwards but I might be mixing her up with someone else.

Birds aren't everyone's thing.

Mooning

There I was on planet Earth, rocking along at full speed when I saw Jupiter and it's moons up in the sky...so I took a shot. Hope the shutter speed was fast enough to freeze the action! (You might need to view in full size image).  Io, Europa, Ganymede, Callisto.
