Re: Note 20 Ultra cameras

I find the shutter lag minimal if not nonexistent on the Samsungs in normal mode, probably because of the computational buffering aspect. It’s the sharpness and speed of operation I find worse on the 20 vs the 8. A couple of pics below. Different lighting I know but the best I could get from each. I’ve also got some less interesting images in the same conditions that show the difference.

Samsung Note 8

Samsung Note 20 Ultra

First, I am not sure that the two shots that you provided make a valid comparison - clearly taken under different conditions.

Second, for me, the extra flexibility of the three lens system on the Note 20 Ultra is clearly superior to what I had on my Note 8, and I have taken a number of good shots with the new phone.

As I said they are different conditions but I also know the Note 8 would take a better picture than the Note 20 Ultra in those conditions.

i mentioned I’d taken pictures to compare in the same conditions. These are below

This is the overall image

This is a crop from the Note 8

This is from the Note 20 Ultra

I did wonder i the Note 8 was adding artefacts as the detail isn’t visible to the naked eye, so I took a picture with a real camera

This is from an Olympus TG-6

So the note 8 in these situations is far superior to the Note 20 Ultra.

i agree that for normal distance tourist type shots the flexibility of the Note 20 Ultra, with it’s extra wide and longer telephoto lenses is more suitable. But for the type of shots I like it is poor in comparison. It’s also mis-sold as having an optical zoom.

i forgot to mention that I also use the heart rate and SPO2 sensors on the Note 8 which are missing on the Note 20 Ultra.

So enjoy it. It’s not for me.
