Astrophotography Samples - Pixel 3a in Maine

Here are a couple samples of the astrophotography capabilities of the Pixel 3a. I took these photos up in Maine last week. My process involved leaning my phone on an old wooden chair for stabilization, opening the camera app, using Night Sight with a 10 second self-timer with the focus distance set to far. The phone did the rest. It used something like a 45 second exposure.

I then brought the photos into the Snapseed app to do some basic adjustments to levels and white balance, and I adjusted the the curves to bring the most out of the image while trying to preserve as much detail as possible throughout the histogram. Pretty neat result!

Have you been able to capture the stars with just your phone? What sort of results did you get, and what would you like to see done better in the future?

Here's a couple I took with my LG V30 last month while looking for Comet Neowise.

These were shot from outside Blanco Tx just north of San Antonio. Both 30sec @ ISO 800. Edited the Raws in Snapseed on the phone (which has no noise reduction feature. I'll try using Lightroom on the phone and see if I can get rid of the noise.
