NX20 Samsung error message 00

Hi, I'm in need of some help and I'm hoping someone has the answer for me.

my Samsung NX20 is about 7 years old and I have never had a problem with it until recently when I accidently dropped it from about 1 mitre height onto a carpet with  concrete underneath. This resulted in the shattering of the UV lens screwed to my 18-55 lens mounted at the time. There appears to be no other physical damage but now when I turn the camera on I get the Error 00 and the camera shuts down. I'm guessing that the problem is with the camera body because I get the same result when I mount my 200 lens.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

You may have damaged the contacts in the lens throat. With the lens removed, examine the contacts in the throat of the camera with a magnifier or loupe for any obvious damage.

If you have an adaptor to use other manufacturers' lenses, (M42-NX, PK-NX or similar), fitting this should bypass the contacts and may help indicate the problem.

As you suggested I tried a generic attachment which bypassed the connection and that gave me access to camera adjustments. From suggestions I found on line I tried without result to get access to the "system parameters" so I could homely fix my problem via the "no lens release enable" setting but using the suggested guide I can't access it.

No further suggestions, I'm afraid. I use my NX5 solely for legacy lenses, mostly Russian M39 rangefinder lenses, so these symptoms wouldn't affect me

You could consider offering the body for sale on eBay or similar, with specific reference to the fault symptoms. Someone may be interested for spares or indeed as a legacy-only body. Any cash generated could be put towards a replacement body. If you do decide to sell up completely, list the body and lenses separately, you'll likely make more like that

I'm not so sure about the "made their money" aspect. Business practice usually wrings every last penny out of a profitable scheme! Much more likely it was realised early on that there simply wasn't room for another high-end system in the marketplace and withdrew before they lost too much

Check also the lens's pin on camera, it might get stucked from drop.
