Tried out the Samyang f2 and shot a few with the kit lens aswell. Did not meet any other hikers on my 12 hour, 2 day hike.

Nice set! Love the nightscape. More images? Because I can imagine that a hike like this resulted in more of these awesome photos!

Cheers!

Great shots, like the work, shows that even a relatively old camera can do amazing stuff

Camera/lens generation and IQ

First of all, great set!

@Dylan

Well, age is relative

IMO, the IQ is defined by sensor and lens. Provided the hygiene factors are fulfilled (exposure, no undesired movement/vibration, etc.).

The X-T2 was released in 2016. The sensor hasn't changed substantially since.

My opinion is that unless there is a substantially new sensor generation, the newer models (e. g., with IBIS, faster AF, better AF tracking) just help to increase the likelihood that the photographer really leverages the full performance of the system. In all situations where the photog managed this before let's say with an X-T2, a newer model will not increase the IQ.

(With video, it is different if there are really new options.)

A new sensor (43 MP?) may require a new generation of lenses.

BR,

Martin

Re: Hiking in Sweden this week with my XT2

Hello and thanks.

For me it is a new camera. I switched from Canon to Fujifilm after 10 years with Canon. Tried big fullframe cameras etc. I never print bigger than A1 and for prints up to that size the XT2 does an amazing job. I use it professionally and not one single client has ever asked about what gear I use. If had a million bucks I'd go for the GFX system but for hiking and street I would use the X series.

I'd like the X pro 2 and the X100V but due to covid I lost all my work this year as a musician etc.

But next year I will hopefully gear up.

The pictures are not as sharp and crisp like on the Canon or Sonys but I feel that it has got more of a mystique and soul to it.

Hey and thanks. I was more busy enjoying the views and the moments so the photos are not too epic. They are shot in the moment.

Tried some astro but I am still learning. For me it was more for the memories.

Looks cool! Nice perspective on them. I struggle with astro as well. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I totally suck at it
