Shooting for Footlocker with the x100v & X-T4

I photographed Beija Velez for Footlocker the other day and was able to use both my x100v and X-T4 with the 90mm. Man, that 90 is INSANE. So sharp (sometimes maybe too sharp, though not in this shoot).

Funny thing I'm noticing... I'm using both of these cameras on most of my shoots lately and am finding the clients choosing images taken on the x100v. It makes me laugh because I originally got that as my walk around/photograph my daughter machine.

These are awesome photos.  Thanks for sharing.  I also enjoyed your comment about the x100v.  I have thought about getting that camera - now I might!

The first two are my picks Ashley yet I'm not your client.

I'm glad to see you getting work.  A few of my friends have had little or no work since late March.  One has no need to work any longer as he made it years ago and could retire except he loves his work.  The other is middle age and fortunately his wife is working.

Some day this pandemic will end.

Thanks so much! I can definitely recommend the x100v. If I didn't have the occasional yearning for that compressed/long lens look, I'd probably just stick with the x100.

Thanks, Morris. I didn't work for several months and then the last 6 weeks (just so happened to coincide with when I purchased my Fujis) things have gotten very busy. I think clients got a little desperate for content.

It's a strange new world, though. Even in this industry. Most of my shoots have not had hair/makeup people (even on some big celeb shoots/campaigns), the crews are MUCH smaller than they typically are, and of course photographing while wearing a mask is sometimes difficult with models understanding my direction.. But I'm grateful to be making money for my family.

Odd question, but have you considered picking up a 35mm 1.4? Has a really cool cinematic rendering, kind of like the 16-55, but less clinical. I think it'd suit your style well – but you are doing tremendous as-is!

Heh... I've gotten that a few times before as well!

Couple of weeks ago, had to go to an artist client's place for what I was told was just a meet-up/get to know session before a later studio session, so all I had with me was my 100F.

When I got there, I was told that the client wanted the shots NOW.

Gulp....

X100F with fixed 35mm equiv. focal length, for a head and shoulders portrait that was going to be enlarged HUGE?

Not my ideal choice, to say the least.

I went ahead and took the shots, thinking that I could zip right out afterwards, get proper gear, return, and redo.

Client loved the 100F shots!

Got a couple enlarged to about 30 X 45. Job done, everyone happy!

That 90mm does look good. It's on my shopping list!

Awesome shots, always great to see such images, puts things in perspective. Fuji really nailed it with the X100V - I'm saving up for an eventual X-H2, but damn that little cam is really tempting.

I had the 35mm 1.4 on loan for a few days. It is beautiful and has so much character... i Just sometimes am not that enamored with the 50mm FL. That said, I've taken some of my favorite shots at that FL so, who knows? Probably have to snag it at some point.

I'm actually tempted to get the 56mm 1.2 the most right now. I don't know why, but something about it...
