Re: Note 20 Ultra Spigen case

Quick review of the Spigen case that I bought - the Spigen Ultra Hybrid S, clear. This has an integrated stand extends a millimeter beyond the front screen at the top and bottom, and the same distance beyond the camera lenses at the back.

I chose clear to show off the color of the phone, because everyone was raving about the bronze color. In reality, to me the color is more pink than bronze, and not that exciting, so the clear case in the end isn't important.

Unlike the case I originally looked at, the stand on this one only helps with the phone horizontal, but is works fine in that orientation. One negative of the stand is that it extends beyond the flat surface, which makes the use of some wireless chargers an issue (it is fine with two of mine, but makes a bad angle for a third). On the other hand it balances out the extending cameras so the phone can sit flat.

Thanks for the detailed review of the case. For me a kickstand is a must.

The case I used with my Note 8 was also a Spigen with a kick stand, but that was flat. It looks like this is the same as the "Spigen Tough Armor" for the Note 20 Ultra, so if you don't want a clear case that may be a better choice - that case was find with my Note 8. Either case is pretty cheap from Amazon.

S20 versus Canon 70D

Is this a fair comparison?

Almost every image from the Galaxy S20 is better than from Canon 70D.

Not really. The pairs of shots are mostly taken at different effective focal lengths. One of the 70D shots is over exposed and another is focused behind the subject.

Overall, a poor comparson.

Besides, the real advantage of  a DSLR is in challenging lighting and in the fine detail.

(I have a host of cameras, including a 5D MKIV and some good lenses, but most of my shots are taken with a phone these days - I have little time for serious shooting.)

Like the author says, he's an amateur photographer and it shows.

Re: Note 20 Ultra ordered

Looks like it's a great camera.

What's your impression after using it for a while now?

I ordered one also, so I'll probably be bugging you once in a while for tips if you don't mind.

Were you able to use your old SIM card?  I heard the n20 ultra had a larger SIM than the s7, di you know if that's true?

Anyway, I've enjoyed your posts on this camera, so thanks for that.

Well, some of the smoothing/noise reduction is stronger that I would like - but I haven't had time to see how much better I can do with the raw images. On the other hand, the "zoom" is great, and I've been very happy with that. For taking every day snaps, I am happy.

I didn't see anything unusual about the SIM card - I used the same one that I took out of my Note 8, which was previously in my Note 5.
