T7i and 55-250mm STM
5

This is not news, but I find my T7i with the inexpensive 55-250mm STM lens to be a great long zoom combo. Here are two shots of the Golden Gate Bridge, the first at 55mm (88mm equiv) and the second at 250mm (400 mm equiv). Each one with both a full image, reduced pixel size and a 100% crop. Shot handheld on a hazy day, RAW and converted in DxO PhotoLab with no noise reduction at all. DxO's "ClearView" did a good job on clearing up much of the haze.

For a relatively low priced lens it is very good, I am always pleased with the results from mine.

Re: T7i and 55-250mm STM

seems many like the STM version of this lens, very nice.

have you tried the older 55-250, if so is there much difference with image quality?

I had an older 55-250 with an older Canon DSLR, but sold it all then got the T7i and 55-250 STM later. So I really can't compare the two. I just know I'm very happy with the T7i and a variety of Canon's inexpensive lenses (including the 55-250 STM) and see no reason at all to ever go to full frame with its much larger cost, size, and weight.

i like canon's lower line, suits my purposes just fine.  full frame would be nice but i have no real need either.  in fact now i am looking at  bridge cameras for nature/birding purposes.

today i only packed a pocket camera for a family gathering...in the end my camera is just a hobby, so there really is no 'wrong' way to do it.  in the end it is just memories packed in a box.

Since I got my very small Sony RX100 M3 a few years ago, my T7i kit stays home a lot.

Very well done. I've shot from that vantage point in the Headlands and always interesting. That lens continues to be a long time favorite.

I liked the first one enough that I had a 12"x18" print made from it that how hangs in my bedroom.
