Getting an extra battery door to modify for dummy battery adapter use

Someone (or sometwo lol) suggested that I get a second EM10Mk2 battery door to modify for the dummy battery adapter cord. I want to get one for my EPL6 also but since I only use one camera at a time can I just get one extra battery door that will work with both? I assume the EPL6 battery door is the same one as the one on the EM10Mk2 since they use the same battery?

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

Not real sure why are asking this since you have both cameras and can just look at them and see if they are identical.  You could also try to swap the doors to see if they work on the other camera.

I'm at my second residence and don't have either camera here with me right now. We got hit with a big storm yesterday so I was at my Long Island property to make sure it stayed secure. But I want to get the battery door in time for the Perseid meteor shower next week so I'm going to place an order for it now.

Same battery does NOT mean same battery door.

I suspect Olympus has a dedicated ten story building of designers constantly working on new designs for battery doors, there's quite a variety and they do not get better with more modern cameras.

The E-PL5/6 door simply snaps in place, check the E-M10 MK2 if it is snap-in type as well. Then it is simple to compare them.

From vague memory sitting at breakfast, the E-PL5/6 door swings sideways out of the way, while the E-M10 MK2 is the bleeding awkward design that swings back and makes the SD card hard to access.

Frankly, if I were to play with dummy batteries I would snap out the door and use the camera without a door at all.

I'm along the same line of thinking as you, I dont want to bother with drilling a hole in a battery door lol.  There are simpler ways of going about it if closing the battery compartment with something that has a hole to thread wires through it is absolutely necessary.

Re: Getting an extra battery door to modify for dummy battery adapter use

Neither camera is weather sealed so the door does not do anything except mostly get in the way.

The SD card stays in place and the battery latch seems to hold things in nicely. If the camera is dropped then of course all bets are off and the door doesn't help at all when a camera is dropped. If the battery decides to pop out in a drop, it will, despite any door being in the way.

So for temporary dummy battery use, no door at all is the simplest way, as long as it pops out easily.

Thats what I was thinking too....the dummy battery is for a limited use case anyway....I want to set up the camera outside for Live Composite use (up to 3 hrs) at night while I go to sleep inside so I wouldn't have to worry about the battery dying. The power train would be dummy battery to power supply to 50 ft outdoor extension cord to an electrical outlet in my garage.

I was worried about dew moisture getting inside the battery compartment especially during the long humid nights we have here but I guess that can just as easily happen even with the door (especially a door with a hole in it lol.) I never found a satisfactory answer to whether or not dew can damage the camera with the battery door left open though......

That's a good suggestion, I could use gaffer or electrical tape to keep the dummy battery in place instead of having to drill a hole through a second battery door.
