Re: Break EOS R forum into separate PHOTOGRAPHY and VIDEO sub FORUMS

Yes, please. Would love to have a forum where I can talk R-video exclusively; it will be a lot to talk about in the coming years I suspect. It seems photographers would like to talk photography exclusively as well.

A video forum would give people a place to share videos and stuff much the way people share photos in the current forum.

They didn't split the 5D talk into 2 stream. Video is just the current hot topic.

I think it’s a great idea; still focused individuals get so upset when others talk video.

It would be nice, but don't count on it happening. I agree however. My interest in video is like -5. I never bother with it never have and likely never will. Photography is for me what's ALL about. So that kind of alteration of the forum would suit me perfectly. Sadly I don't see it happening.

Name the gear and I've probably owned it and used it.

i have never used my dslrs for video, whatsoever, so it will be a waste of time listening to video whiners here in photography forum! just for the heck of it i might use one video on one of my dslrs just see what people are talking about

Yes please. I was asking questions about video autofocus and the replies I get were all photo related.

Separate body and lens subforums like DSLR bodies and EF lenses.

Yep, will stop all the entitled dodos coming in to a thread on video overheating and say something like "well I don't shoot video so shouldn't really comment here, but I'm so entitled, here's my 2 cents anyways."

Mi saw it and agreed with it. Saw it wasn’t getting any action so reworded and made it into a poll. We’re picking up speed now.

Dumpster Fire?

johncal wrote:

Do it.  This entire board became a dumpster fire as a result of all the endless video posts.  I used to wonder why so few members posted photographs here.  It's probably unfair to try to limit the posts but I noticed twice this week that the entire first page that loaded was nothing but R5 Video posts.  All of them.
.

This is a Canon Video Camera

This is also a Canon Video Camera

This is NOT a video camera. It is a STILLS camera that can record video (with limitations). The video ability is a byproduct of the sensor technology.

I like the idea. It's irritating to hear Sony trolls ramble about the video specs and capabilities of the camera, even when 90% of the people who buy one won't be using it for video or when a great deal of videography, such as weddings, are shot in HD, where there are no overheating problems.

so in other words:

a photocentric review site of the R5 going over its 47MP. great AF, Great Form factor, lens compatibility and fast operation.

A video centric review site of the R5 becoming a beach-fest of folks who can't shoot their Laurence of Arabia in 8K on location in a 120 def F temperature

yeah, I'm in!

Not really necessary IMHO

johncal wrote:

Personally, I don’t think it’s really necessary.

This tends to happen anytime there’s a new camera release. Once the hoopla dies down. I think the thread will return to a normal balance of Video vs. Photo threads.

Maybe even the trolling will die down as well. Oops, I forgot which website I’m on! 😉

Maybe it is time for a new kind of hybrid camera? I don't know...

Wait for the dust to settle.

Too soon.

The lunatic response on social media is already settling (and looking increasingly idiotic.) So I think it would be a mistake to fragment every forum whenever some nitwit livestreams his or her unboxing or 'test.'
