This month with your Nikon 1 - August 2020

Welcome to another monthly thread. Feel free to share your work either here or through individual threads on the forum, whatever you are more comfortable with.

The rules are simple:

  • Add your contribution by responding to this first message in this topic.
  • Change the subject of your message, then embed your image into the reply with whatever you’d like to say about it.
  • If you want criticism/critique (C&C) or technique feedback, say so. It’s generally assumed that you want general feedback, but direct requests make it clearer.

The title of the thread shouldn't discourage you from posting older pictures. Feel free to post anything that you found again in your archives or that you are currently working on.

Dragonfly silhouette at sunset
5

I was at the Albufera of Valencia for the sunset and caught this dragonfly perched against the sunset colors.

BTW, I processed this photo with DxO Photolab and their PRIME noise reduction algorithm and there was some banding in the sky, so I used the HQ algorithm instead and looks better (although noisier).

My "dear" family - August 2020
5

I wanted to catch some shots of this family in my backyard and would have loved to grab my Fuji and 100-400 but, alas, when you are in a hurry you grab what is already set up. Needless to say the J5 hardly ever lets me down and I am happy with these results.

Re: Winter views from my balcony - August 2020

They are lovely - the hummingbird (?) especially but that image of the moon just above the mountains is a great landscape photo.

San Diego Safari Park

We mounted a brief expedition to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park this morning.  Sumatran Tigers Majel and Rakan were out and about.

Majel "high tailin" it

Virga
3

Virga is precipitation that evaporates, sublimes, before hitting the ground. It is a Latin for twig referring to the thin streaks it produces

Later that evening the same weather system that produced this effect would develop into a wicked summer thunder storm that is rather rare of this neck of the woods.
