First outing with M6II and 32 mm f1.4
17

I used Sony E system prior to this one. I had Sony A7II with several very nice lenses, like Zeiss 16-35 f4, Sony FE 85 f1.8, FE 50f1.8 and FE 28 f2. It was great combo, but to heavy for travel (at least for me). So I changed A7ii for very nice A6400, and changed cahnged Zeiss for Samyang 12 f2. It used it more, but still wasnt impressed, specially with colors. 28f and 50 f1.8 are OK lens, but not spectacular.

In the end few months ago I sold everything, and planed to use only Canon G5xII. Since my younger son is showing interest in photography, I decided to give EOS M system a chance.

I knew that native lens selection is limited, but all lenses thet I need exist.

So, I bought Canon M6II last week with 11-22 and 32 f1.4. I got 15-45 in kit with camera, and EVF. I aalso ordered Sigma 56 f1.4.

Last night was first time I managed to took camera out of my appartmnet. We wnet in restaurant and evening walk.

I took only 32 f1.4 for this occasion. I must say that I am impressed with colors I get from this combo. This lens is fantastic (at least for me). I am more sattisfied with it then I was with Sony FE lenses, specially considering the size of lens.

I tried 11-22 at home biefly, and it seems like a great UWA lens too.

Anyway, here are some shots form last night. All are JPG, with minimal correction in ACDSee.

Welcome to the forum.

It looks like you had a really fun time with your new kit!  I too just love the 32 on the M6ii.  The little lens packs a big punch!

I think you’ll enjoy the 22 and the 56 also.  Both are nice and sharp, and autofocus very well.  Check out the M6ii Tips and Tricks thread...

Enjoy your new camera!

I, like you, really enjoy the M6II.  I really did not expect it to become the camera that I always pick up first.  I am always tempted to get the 32mm but I am afraid that the FOV will be too narrow.  I have the 22mm and like it a lot and the FOV seems perfect to me.  Whenever I read about the 32mm lens, it is always described as being a "magical lens" and the best of the ef-m lenses.  Your thread has me just about ready to pull the trigger.

Re: First outing with M6II and 32 mm f1.4

Dr Hall, I must say that it was my concer as well. I used to Lumix 20mm f1.7, which was my favorite lens in m43 system. I like 40 mm focal length a lot, not to wide, not to narrow.

But last night it didnt bothered me. Also IQ from this lens is fantastic.

good combo

only suggestion I have in shooting jpg is to get your white balance set to the scene before you shoot each scene - use your exposure simulation to evaluate adjustments

enjoy

The M system, is without a doubt the most fun system I've ever shot.

And the two best lenses for the system are the 32mm f/1.4 STM and 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM, especially paired.

Don't let the price or size of those lenses deceive you, they both are worthy of a red ring around them, but don't carry the cost or weight penalty of an L lens...

Good first outing btw. It's still the photographer, not the tool. But it's a good tool (the M system), yes.

I'd agree with that

yet it is counterintuitive  - the strength in 32 mpxl crop should be the REACH vs wide angle  - yet Canon is silent to lenses for m that take advantage of crop's strength to put more pixels on the subject than FF with REACH

From begining I see that will be the case.

I think having only these two lens are worth having EOS M camera.

I was astonished when I saw image quality from 32 mm lens, specially having in mind that M6II is 32 MPix camera.

Thanks a lot.
