Palm has a 3.5" Android phone (Palm Standalone).

It's the smallest I've seen with a brand name. Sony and Apple used to be the compact phone companies for Android and iOS but they've stopped making real compact phones.

Apple's new iPhone SE 2020 is 4.7" and is bigger than my 4" SE.

The phone is interesting. It seems it would have very limited use, especially the battery.  I've read that its 800mAh battery depletes rapidly.

From the reviews, this Palm phone ships with Android Oreo 8.1 and I cannot tell if it can be upgraded to Android 10. Also for a longer battery life, you will need an optional Mophie Juice pack. Not worth it.

You're right. Defeats the purpose of having a small phone if you have to carry around a charging pack.  If they can improve the battery, there might be more of a market. I recently bought a new phone and I get up to four days on a single charge.

Re: Palm has a 3.5" Android phone (Palm Standalone).

My first smartphone was an LG Optimus Net (in 2012, about U$35 toe in the water, mainly to get a QWERTY keyboard for increasing SMS use). It has a 3.2" screen running Android 2.3 on hilarious specs but with a fully functional microSD card with unencumbered App2SD installation. It's still in active use replacing a Sandisk MP3 player for workout and run music and audiobooks, with an old version of OSMAnd for still reliable sat/nav on current OSM maps.  No SIM card, but makes emergency 911 calls.  The camera is still surprisingly good for what it is, and the original (removable) battery is still healthy, but clearly obsolete. Android Gingerbread was a brilliant exercise in efficient coding, and nearly all the apps came in under a couple of megabytes. The incremental value of Androids and apps a hundred times larger and pricier is open to debate..

I still have a almost new Palm Centro in the box and that little phone just oozes high quality. I sure miss those phones from Palm, especially the Treo..it was a outstanding work phone.

Although I never owned a Palm phone, I owned a Palm III and a Palm V and they were great! I put off owning Palm phones. Palm was supposed to introduce a device with the OS named "Cobalt" which was a failure.

Re: Old model - already gone.

This was released over a year ago and sold only by Verizon in the US. It sold very poorly and I think it has already been dropped as a Verizon product.
