Canon RF 24-240mm, better than Canon EF 28-300mm L ???

I have read some users said that the new 24-240mm produce better image quality than the older 28-300 L lens. Is it possible for a consumer lens to beat an older but L graded lens?  I am wondering if there is anyone that owns both of these lenses can verify or falsify this claim in a R camera system. Thanks!

Not if you look at them uncorrected.

Don't have the 28-300. The RF lens feels good in hands. I shoot raw and process files using dxo. Results: I do not feel like I am missing a lot in terms of IQ. Glad it starts at 24mm.

Then again L lens are built like tanks
