Thank you Morris.

Copy variation aside, my Fuj100400 is sharper at 400mm than the EOS400/5.6 but not by a huge amount. The only advantage is size and that 1/2 pound you mention, which to me one some days can feel like a thousand pounds.

There is also the hand 'grabability'. The thin nature of the Canon in question really allows me to grab the lens mid-length and go. I can't do that with the Fuji.

Regardless I like them both, and both are proven to me for satisfaction.

This shows how the new computer designed lenses do stand out over the old gems which still have a special charm,

Some more photos with the 100-400
3

Went up the parkway the other night to see what there was to see. Wasn't disappointed in the scenery or the lens. Wish I had taken some exposure brackets but was having fun learning the new lens that it escaped my mind.

I blinked and didn't get a chance for a BIF, not that I would have with this little guy anyways

Slightly cropped, when I took it couldn't even see the people, probably probably a half mile away.

Re: Not a real macro, but...

Thank you

In fact, I see no reason in buying 1:2 macro lens :). On the other hand laowa 2:1 could open new possibilities... and challenges - how to get closer, attract subjects etc.

Cheers,

Artur

Osprey in the clouds
4

When I saw this juvenile osprey coming towards me at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside, NY; I was happy to see it approaching an area of the sky with some clouds for a more interesting background than plane blue sky.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

Picky, picky, picky?  [g]

Seriously, it can be challenging enough just to nail the subject, no less with a good environment featured as well to offset the subject.   But that's why one returns again and again, no?   I do appreciate the skill and determination that it takes, and which you are so good at showing.

That's quite a sweet night scene.  Personally I'd want to clone away the reflections of the street lights. . . whatever.   That's an interesting choice of color finish (I mean, in a good way).
