Anyone using Snapseed photo editor on android phone?

I got a new Samsung S20 phone and was wondering if Snapseed is an easy and fun to use photo editor on the S20, or if you had a better suggestion.  My S20 is the low end model, not the one with the super camera.  The built in photo editor looks better than my old S6 phone and don't know if Snapseed would be a lot better?  Thanks.

At the risk of sounding flippant (not my intention) is there any particular reason why you don't just download it and give it a try ? It's not like it's going to cost you anything.

As a 'sort of' response, I have a Pixel 3 and i have used Snapseed for some of the filters, which provided some effects i liked, and are suitable for online/casual use. For 'normal' photo re-touching, i tend to stick with the basic stuff in Google Photos.

Thanks Rob and you are fine.  I have installed Snapseed now on my S20 and was hoping to talk to some people who are using it.  I'm pretty good with Lightroom and PS CC on my computer but am behind the curve when it comes to editing on a phone.  For example I haven't yet figured out how to put the Snapseed icon on my home page.  Also when I bring up a photo in my phone is there any way to use an "open with" feature like on the computer to open it in Snapseed?   I realize I can open Snapseed and then browse to my photo to open it.  Thanks.

Probably not much help if are using a Samsung (or other non-Google) photo app, but in Google Photos after clicking the edit icon, a different menu bar appears at the bottom of the screen, which contains an icon that looks like a 3x3 grid of dots. Clicking on that gives me an option to edit in Snapseed.

This might only be due to the fact that Snapseed is a Google-owned app....?

I think Snapseed is great. It'll do all you want it to do. I mainly use the 'Tune Image' 'Details' 'Curves' and 'Perspective' options... It will do all you want for a quick edit.

There was one other editor that was highly recommended but I forget the name. It also have built in 'looks'... I quite like the faded glow look.

You can also browse to a photo and click share and it will bring up all the apps you can share with - Snapseed will be one of them. Just click it and away you go.

I like Snapseed but I was looking for an app that allowed me to import multiple photos into the app and then edit them (with the ability to copy and paste changes) before exporting them in bulk. In the end I'm using Lightroom for mobile. As long as you are not editing RAW, the app is free and the free version includes most editing options. It works very well.

It's great - I save a few preset looks and use the curves feature mostly.
There are lots it can do, like masking etc.   Some creative types have put up some good editing videos on youtube which is a bit more engaging way to see some features.

Thanks for the reply and info.  That sounds like the best way to get the image into Snapseed and there isn't a way to get the Snapseed icon onto my S20's home page.

Are you shooting raw on your phone and editing those files in Lightroom mobile?  I have the S20.

No, I only shoot in JPEG. I think if you want to edit RAW you have to pay for the subscription.

Not a heavy user, and more on a tablet than the phone except for quick touch-ups of message attachments. But this quick intro for Apple products was informative to get started. There's probably more on Youtube, etc. I bought Photo Mate years ago when my pre-Camera2 phone produced "non-native" DNGs (via Snap Camera HDR) that Snapseed wouldn't open, and quite like it as being more like a desktop editor. But current Snapseed is opening native Moto DNGs, no problem now.

Indeed, I think Snapseed uses Control Points for making selections like in Nik and Nikon's software.  It's pretty slick the way you can swipe with your finger to adjust the edits.

What happens when you go to the icon on the APPS page, press and hold the Snapseed icon then drag it to your home page?

I will have to give that a try and report back.  Thanks for the idea.   You are talking going to the Google Play Store and working with the icon from there, rather than going to settings and scrolling to installed apps?

Much simpler than that, locate the icon to the app you want, press with your finger and hold - now drag (while still holding) to your homescreen.

I use Snapseed from time to time and it's quite good. It's a big step up from Google Photos and my old LG's photo gallery/editor. Snapseed was from the Nik collection originally. I'm surprised Google hasn't completely incorporated Snapseed into Photos.

Indeed, and Snapseed uses Control Points for making selections also, right?  I'm amazed that with the Android version you can do everything just by moving your finger around on the screen.

I have a Huawei P30 Pro, and I use Snapseed and Lightroom to edit my pics. For me, Snapseed is one of the best apps I tried. It's easy to use, and you can be as creative as you want. However, I've never used filters there. For this purpose, I prefer Lightroom and custom presets.

I bet you get some great images with your phone that way.  Do you use the control points in Snapseed?
