Just got an extension tube - great fun!!

I saw a "mint" used mcex11 Fuji extension tube for sale at Wex for £45, so on a whim ordered it. First time I've used an extension tube - I hadn't realised how much fun you can have with these things (well it is a very dull, rainy afternoon in London!).

I was shooting with my X-T2 on a tripod, tethered into Capture One (which is also fun when you don't do it very often!) with a 35 F2.

Quickly realised how totally critical aperture settings are with these close-ups - it's amazing how thin the depth of field is when shooting like this.

So here's a photographic world premiere...of my (slightly battered) watch!!!

The slight blurring of the minute counters on the rim around 9 disappeared when I stopped down to f/5.6 but then the second hand blurred as I had reduced the shutter speed - I should have upped the ISO of course but I was a bit over-excited at seeing my watch face so huge on my iMac.

For me, this could open up a whole new world of photography!

I have the same tube and using it with 18-55. Defiantly fun and amazing how much you can see in and out of focus with different aperture values.
