Re: Acapulco Redux and Farmall

Thanks WN. Below is a link to the full size lossless jpg should you wish to view it. Since it was the E-3 the full size file is only around 16 MB I think after the cropping and lossless compression.

From what I read I guess you could significantly uprez the picture using Topaz's new AI plug in ... and then hang that 16 foot picture .. If you can find a print shop that will handle it ....

Stay well ...

i just viewed the full sized file and I can almost read the name on that ship .. great resolution   ....  Given the work you put in anf the results I would certainly find a wall for it, if you haven't already ...

Lovely cheery flowers WN.

Thanks for stopping by, Andrew ...

Yesterday we went for a drive and dinner out on a patio with only a few other patrons well spaced from us. We drove the coast of Lake Erie for about 2 h from west of Turkey Point to Nanticoke. When we drove through Turkey Point past the beach area run by the Provincial Parks of Ontario the place was packed, and I do mean packed. The groups may have been separated by 6 ft but if they moved at all that was not happening. An mind blowing display of 'we are invincible' mentality. I read yesterday that 81% of the deaths from CV in Ontario were in old age facilities. Now that is a scary concept. The number of new cases in Ontario is down with more than half being in off shore workers housed in bunkhouses on farms. Seems they are unwilling to reveal their illness since the farmers will not pay them if they do not work. Catch 22! Every one gets sick and the farmers then can not harvest the crops. Would be better to pay the sick workers than have 95% of your workers infected.

I guess the only thing that bothers me about those parties and large gatherings is that I know that this will increase the numbers of those testing positive and raise the probability that some unsuspecting individual who didn't get to enjoy yhe party will suffeer along with them ...

Researching a new camera??? I have done that but for the time being have decided to wait and see. Sony may be the safest of the remaining manufacturers but I think the market may be depressed for quite some time which may cause problems for all of them.

I suspect my next camera will still be the M1.2, so I can continue using those longer heavier FT lenses otherwise the G9 might tempt me . The M1.3 only has that joy stick that would tempt me, I was disappointed that they didn't upgrade the EVF. .. I am looking hard at the Sony a6400 and a7 ii or III along with a smallish 40mm -50mm lens as a replacement for the M10 but I suspect that's a ways and several new Sony models down the road when we can actually get out and about.  .... and hopefully I'm still able to get out and about as my knees are beginning to rust with age ...

Stay safe and well WN!

You too ....

A surprisingly detailed image for 2 MP Harvey.  A twenty year old design now.  How time flies.  My first digital camera was a 4 MP, basically a point and shoot but it did allow some limited manual control and had a viewfinder.  At $1000 it was close in price to that Olympus, a little cheaper.

Re: Acapulco Redux and Farmall

I am pretty sure the tractor was restored by someone, likely the owner Dave.  The paint work was not up to show standards for automobiles so I suspect a fairly good home paint job but a lot of other work as well.  The decals on various parts look new and they are readily available on ebay so they were likely replaced after the clean up and paint work.  There was a small chip on the lower frame which is visible in the image.

There are many restored tractors on display in our area alone.  Also, many unrestored rusting hulks.  The farmers seem to have feelings for these old work horses and keep them around.

Re: Breakfast in Melbourne

I had a C3030 first, 3MP. Bought the C2100 later for the 10X zoom. Paid $800 when it was being replaced by the C2500. I took a lot of good photos with the C2100. Excellent camera if you had enough light.

Roy,

it really does s not as dense as it looks - and there is nothing in there that can harm you other than a wasp!

Lots of rain in the past few days - low pressure ver the UK. April and May were very dry - now we make up for it.

i think you also had a warm dry spring?

Re: Breakfast in Melbourne

Andrew, I have a lot of nice 2-5MP photos taken with compact digital cameras most people wouldn't spend $20 to buy today.

I could not do exotic photography with them, couldn't print big. They had tiny sensors and weren't worth much over ISO400, sometimes refused to focus above that, but if you used them when they had enough light they did OK.

They were point and shoot cameras. The good thing about them is you looked for interesting photo ops and did not worry about camera settings.

I often think I would take better photos if I just put my cameras on "P" and jpeg, went looking for interesting things to photograph and not be distracted by IQ.

Some of the photos I've taken over the years are not great IQ and nobody cares. When the subjects/compositions are interesting, IQ isn't that important.

Re: Today’s walk (cont)

Thanks WN - the old works don’t spoil the woods - as they probably did it in their day - the mixture of nature and local industrial history - now that it is clean and does no harm is interesting.

Nice place for a walk Dave and interesting too. Hope you had better weather than we did today, Torrential rain showers. Maybe take along a machete next time. On second thoughts, maybe not.

Showers today - few and far between - but you can see from the river how much fell lately. I saw your forecast for today wind and rain - did you know that in most countries the west portion is generally the driest. We didn’t research well enough Dave.
