This month with your Nikon 1 - July 2020

Welcome to another monthly thread. Feel free to share your work either here or through individual threads on the forum, whatever you are more comfortable with.

The rules are simple:

  • Add your contribution by responding to this first message in this topic.
  • Change the subject of your message, then embed your image into the reply with whatever you’d like to say about it.
  • If you want criticism/critique (C&C) or technique feedback, say so. It’s generally assumed that you want general feedback, but direct requests make it clearer.

The title of the thread shouldn't discourage you from posting older pictures. Feel free to post anything that you found again in your archives or that you are currently working on.

Nice image quality on the cat. Looks like pleasingly soft light to keep the shadows from blocking. up.

Another Blooming Cactus
3

My wife brought this potted cactus inside yesterday to show me the latest flower in bloom.

So I took a few quick shots hand held with a V2 and Dx 40.2.8 macro.

Re: J4 walkabouts

Lovely photos - I really like the atmosphere of the landscapes and birds pictures.

Alsi, I only just tried using a circ pol  with my 30-110 for pics of fishes.  Must try it for skies/ landscapes on a 6.7-13.  Works very well, by the look of your first shot, if you are careful

Do you have an example of a fish pic with circ pol on the 30-110?

I got a cheap set of filters that included a circular polarizer - it lives semi-permanently on my 10mm

First attempts but canadian pondweed and the english summer ( overcast and wet ) intervened.  Must try again - I think I overdid the polarizer - the fish no linger look as if they are in water.  Polarizer is a Hoya.

Surprising how effective it is with the sun in the right direction

without polarizer - or at least turned "down"

cheers

Thanks for your comment ithinkiam, glad you like it. This is the Argentinian side of the Andes at about 4000 m, many miles and hours from the nearest city of San Juan.

A very cold place. Difficult to breath up at the top of the mountains, can get a bit dizzy.

Few from windows after dawn and few others
1

Car roof - dew

branches down in winds - after tree surgeon's visit

neigbour's cat ( almost in focus ) watching magpies respectfully

not managed to get the famillies of 4 magpies and 4 squirrels - grazing on seed the magpies knock down from the feeder

Found in conservatory so took a pic before shooshing him/her out.  Left it overexposed

Would that cat's name happen to be Sylvester?

Re: This month with your Nikon 1 - July 2020

Finally had decent enough weather here to get out and try to find Comet Neowise this morning. Had the Stellarium app fired up but could not see the comet. Not sure why. Maybe need to wake up earlier. Twilight was a nice consolation prize though.

Have anyone tried photographing this comet with their N1 gear?
