New Italian review of K1 II is...

kinda impressive imo and seems to show a feature using the gps and sensor that I am not aware of shooting at 24mp and having sensor adjustment?

I am not 100% sure what you are referring to,

But I assume you mean the astrotracer function that uses GPS and the gyros to calculate the sensor movement to follow the stars .

The second thing is not 24MP, but shifting the sensor by 24 "units" to slightly correct perspective (shift lens effect)

I didn't know you could rotate it.

Hi - sorry, I didnt explain myself very well: the second thing - is it changing angle of sensor - like a tilt shift lens?

Hi Brett

It's a shift along the 'x' or 'y' axis, not a rotation around those axes.

It does 'rotate' around the longitudinal 'z' axis though, for horizon and general movement correction.

So, no, it doesn't tilt the sensor in the vertical plane. Pulling that off would be a major coup for the brand.

Who knows, maybe that's to come?

Cheers

Ricoh has a tilting sensor patent:

Hi Dean,

yes, it has been a feature since the very first Pentax SR in the K100D:
https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxk100d/12

The K10D review also has a larger image for the set-up:
https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxk10d

Apart from SR and AstroTracer, on the K-1 and probably many other recent cameras, there is "auto level correction" that rotates the sensor to get the horizon level (within limits of course).

Generally that rotation is not as crucial for shake reduction in still photos, but it does help and is something that lens-based systems cannot do.

Cheers

Jens

Ah ha!  So we can expect it on the K-new then!  Excellent news
