Hi,

To da yIv'e tried to calibrate my new Eizo CS 2420 24" monitor with brand new i1Display Pro calibrator. The way I understand I can calibrate monitor via Colornavigator 7 software, at least that's how it shows Eizo educational video, however I get error "failed to detect measurement device". Tried suggestions but it does not work.

I also got ICC calibration profile via Iprofiler but for some reason it does not do a good job uploaded in Colornavigator 7 software. By the way, today I have discontented my freshly calibrated NEC Multisync monitor which had reproduced colour very well. To be honest I am puzzled and all my colour critical work is pending right now.

Any ideas suggestions what cause a problem?

Thanks

I have the same configuration (monitor and calibrator) and it works fine. Try re-installing both Colornavigator 7 and the xrite software? Make sure both are latest version.

No, it won't be ideal. The xrite software can't program the hardware LUTs (Look Up Tables) in the Eizo monitor, creating software LUTs implemented in the video card. That means it can't calibrate the colour space. You really do want to use Colornavigator to calibrate/profile an Eizo monitor with hardware LUTs. Likewise, any other monitor with programmable hardware LUTs, you need to use the monitor vendor's software.
By the way, today I have discontented my freshly calibrated NEC Multisync monitor which had reproduced colour very well. To be honest I am puzzled and all my colour critical work is pending right now.

That's strange. If the xrite i1 Display Pro is detected by xrite's iProfiler software, then it should be detected by ColorNavigator. If I unplug my i1 Display Pro then I get a similar message but not the second bullet. Are you using the latest version of the software, which I think is 7.1.0.7? Mind, I didn't get any problem with earlier versions either.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for quick reply. Just an hour ago I found a tip tha t solved the problem for me. It is Iprofiler tray thingy that runs in the background. I simply ended it in task manager and guess what? Bingo! detected.

Would you share how do you normally calibrate sRGB and AdobeRGB on CN7?

I picked one at the time edited desired brightness and pressed calibrate. That's it. few minutes and finish.

My normal calibrations is native colour space at 120cd/m2:

I also calibrate Adobe RGB and sRGB, both at 120cd/m2, but I rarely use them.

If I want to see what an image looks like in one of those colour spaces, I use soft proofing in Lightroom.

I would want to try it too. If I want to do in native like you how do I choose target? By the way what are advantages calibrating in native?

Thanks

I can't remember now. It's one of the options, I'm sure.

It's the widest possible gamut. To my mind there's no reason to calibrate to a specific standard like Adobe RGB or sRGB unless you are not using colour managed software.

The point of colour-managed software is that the image will look the same on any profiled monitor (for in-gamut colours). So why use anything but the widest gamut?

I do normally have few profiles and usually it's in sRGB I work because most of my retouching work ends up on the web anyway. This would simplify viewing experience for everyone.

Having said that when any work ends up to be printed and client want's it in wider gammut I always switch.

hi,

same problem here.

how dit you manage to solve it please?

I connect i1display pro but Color navigator 7 doesnt detect it.

thanks!

thanks. I’m not very familiar with dpreview forum so I guess I didn’t see it.

but meanwhile I managed to solve it. everything’s work fine.

thanks anyway!

If it differs from the advice offered in the thread, what did you do?

I hope that the forum will continue, or at least be archived, so that others could benefit from your solution.
