Canon EOS 450D Rebel Image Issues

Hi

I brought this Canon EOS 450D Rebel camera with a 18mm to 55mm lens. I noticed when I take pictures, regardless of the  auto or manual settings, timing, aperture or ISO settings (night and day), I get these marks appearing across the pictures (See attached what i have circled in black or red). Can anyone advise me what the problem is here and how to fix it? Thank you for your time and assistance.

Looks like a lot of dirt / oil spots on the sensor. You could try to clean it yourself (google it) but that looks pretty severe, I'd take it to someone and have it cleaned or get proficient with the cloning tool in Photoshop.

I agree with JVC1.

A dirty sensor. Get a flashlight, going into manual cleaning mode, and take a look at the sensor.

You should be able to see the dust on it. Get a rocket blower and see if you can dislodge the dust, if it's stubborn, you may need to do a wet cleaning.

Rocket Blower

Sensor cleaning swabs

I personally just use qtips and 91% Isopropyl Alcohol for wet cleans.

Watch youtube, it be a good skill to learn. You don't want a dirty sensor to ruin a photo taking session.

As the other people have said, it's probably sensor dust. I leave my lenses on my cameras, so I don't have that problem a lot. But occasionally, I will see something like that (just one spot at a time). Fortunately, Canon's self-cleaning sensor process gets it removed for me. When I did see a dust spot, I researched it. I was thinking of doing it myself or having it done professionally by someone else. Before I could decide, the dust spot was removed by the camera. I have noticed that at least twice in about 10 years.

As other have said, this is usually debris/fungus on the sensor.  However, there was a thread not too long ago with someone with the same issue.  Turned out the cover glass that is over the sensor was cracked.  So check it carefully before proceeding with purchasing a sensor cleaner.

The 450D (XSi) was my first DSLR, and a friend had Nikon DSLRs before that and had told me that getting dust on the sensor when changing lenses was a problem. However, the Canon self-cleaning sensor worked perfectly then and also now with later Canon DSLRs. I assume Nikon has this by now.
