What can I say about the 90 f2. It is a top notch lens. It is so go that I decided that since most of my shots at the track with my 50-140 90% of the shots were 85 to 95 mm focal length ( at step or two with the 90) to sell my 50-140 and use the 90 instead. It's faster, smaller and lighter. While the 50-140 is a cream d'la cream for a zoom the 90 is better at 90. . It is tack sharp from corner to corner and its overall rendering is nice and smooth. It is a 135 equivalent and it's not a focal length I use often but when you need it this lens is a wonderful flexible lens to use.

Positives:  Top of the class rendering.  A fast medium focal length lens for APSC.  Can be used for a lot of applications from sports to portraits.  It is a fast lens.

Negatives: Very difficult to find anything negative to say about this lens.  The only thing that might make this better is a 9 blade rounded aperture instead of 7 for even smoother transitions in out of focus areas.

An all a good solid A performer.

Re: The cream rises

I came by the 90 as there are surprisingly few fast mid telephoto options.  I moved from FF Nikon to the XP2 for the OVF and grabbed the 90, my only option,  hoping it would perform.  Wow.  What a lens.

Very fast dynamic changing action, low light, fast shutter speed high ISO.  This combo of camera - lens might be the only one capable.

For example this event occurred slightly out of "sensor view" but well within OVF view, transpired within a split second and then was over.

Hi Truman,

Agreed.  It is indeed an excellent lens.   I've tried many an adapted legacy 85-90-100-105 and there are few that come near, especially at wider apertures.  (Some are very comparable at middle apertures.)

If the lens has a foible, it's flare.  It can flare if you get the sun close to the edge of the frame or included in the frame if you're shooting at sunset.  It's not alone in that though.....

Cheers, Rod

Re: The cream rises

I have used the 90mm but decided I'd much rather deal with the extra weight and stellar coverage/performance of the 50-140..IMO, easily one of Fuji's best lens options.  If owning the 50-140, no need (at least for me) to own the 90, plus I benefit from a wider focal length focal range!
