Next "more pro" Pen - EP5 design flash or evr

he would like to see an E-P6 in the vein of the Ep5, with an EVF that extends.

I like his idea, was wondering if in the name of keeping small you could pick only EVF or Flash (look where the flash is on EP5 and that's where the EVF would be stored/pop up), what would you prefer?

POLL
EP5 design just like EP5 was, but modern innards. This design has no built in EVF, but has built in flash. I *prefer built in Flash over EVF*.

EP5 design with POP up EVF where the Flash goes, pack the EM5MKIII/PenF small flash with the camera. No built in flash. *I prefer built in EVF over Flash.*

EP5? No, I want a PenF Mark II designed as the Pen F currently is (this means EVF and no built in Flash).

I honestly don't care.

What I want is an Ep6 with the same* body as the ep5 with a pop-up EVF on the left. Weather sealed with the newer processing engine and IBIS.

I wonder if it would be possible to have both an EVF and pop-up flash if the flash popped up vertically - as in "giving the finger"

Since they already have (or should have) the tooling for the EP5 body, it should be cheaper to make it for an EP6.

* Exactly the same, no plastic crap.

I would imagine doing built in flash and EVF would be challenging. But maybe they could just do a non pop-up fixed flash a-la Fuji X100 series, but only guarantee it works with the small primes.

Yes, Ricardo, what Allan said except with your comments about a small fixed flash more likely being doable.

But such an “EP6” would be moving into “Pen F Mark II” territory, so I’d just say to the Olympus designers “頑張れ” and hope they come up with a jewel as close as humanly possible to having those features in a form factor with design queues like the original film Pen F:

I’d be a goner for sure with such a camera, after my wife notices that I haVe one!

After the above subthread which ventured into both Pen F Mark II and E-P6 wishing territory, a little later I see this rumor suggesting that both new Pen cameras are coming: https://www.43rumors.com/ft2-too-good-to-be-true-two-pen-f-coming-in-late-2020-i-doubt-so/

However, I should point out that it is only an FT1 rumor, and personally if it were my site I wouldn’t even print it, as it appears to be the sort of anonymous message to the site guru that anyone could write just because it’s something they would like to see, with absolutely no real world basis whatsoever.

(And NO, I did NOT author the rumor!)

And here is an idea for having both a pop-up EVF and flash:

Pop-up EVF and flash together a good idea to consider.

I started to mention the possibility of combining EVF with flash in a pop-up in my first reply above, but then I started thinking - would I rather have that (combined pop-up EVF + flash)? Or, would I rather have a fixed in-body flash with a flash shoe above it (I don’t think there is room for a combined pop-up + a hot shoe).

One other possible challenge...shielding the plastic EVF housing (and the flash compartment well enough that the light from the flash doesn’t leak through the plastic materials into the viewfinder section...needs to be safe and also not annoying.

Just hope we see some worthwhile new Pens somewhat along these lines by sometime late 2020 or early 2021.

Yes, I would like to see an E-P6, PEN-FII, GX7IV, and GX8II.  No idea whether they will ever appear though.

Yes, some will. Personally, I am pretty satisfied with the tech, but there are often ergonomic mistakes, firmware bugs, usability issues, etc. that bother me.

Or complain like this poster that the camera maker didn't make the camera to fit their personal needs. Even worse than that they never consulted the poster when developing the camera

I'd be happy with an add-on EVF and/or add-on flash. Like the PL up through the 8. Kind of hard to find a viewfinder now, as they aren't made, but really helps in bright light and some other situations. And then in the pocket when not needed.
