So you are talking about the 2013 14-140?

Yes. Model # H-FS14140. The later weather resistant one has an "A" in the model number, H-FSA14140.

Can see such lenses from $ 500 to 1000, a bit difficult to say which is what.

I just checked eBay. A good condition H-FS14140 just sold for $230. The newer H-FSA14140 sells new for $600 at B&H. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1469487-REG/panasonic_h_fsa14140_lumix_g_vario_14_140mm.html

The 12-60 you mention is $500 everywhere.

Sells new at B&H for $500, but used ones have recently sold on eBay for under $200, and you can get a new one on eBay for about $230 shipped from Japan. There are quite a few of these that came as a kit with camera bodies, and the lens was taken out of the kit to sell new. So you can get a decent deal on them if you look.

Thanks again for taking your time! I will take my time and try out what I got. But the 12-60 seems obvious. Could appear for $250 secondhand here maybe. I trade with people moving up in quality, and they may want something better than the 12-60 they got? Just saw one offer for the 100-300, for $600 (!) but new is 750. The seller admitted this and asked for a bid. Don't know about that. Same goes for the 14-140.

Another vote for G85/G95

Below G9 and GH5, there are the smaller Gs.

The cheaper G85 or the current model G95, both are smaller bodies than G9/GH5, but a bigger evf than GX7/85/9.

They use a 0.74x 2.36M dots resolution evf in 4:3, vs the 0.7x 2.36M dots evf of GXs in 16:9 (25% not used in 4:3).

Since I am using to the evf of GX7/85, I never find the big difference between them. Both are very usableausable pieces of tools to use.

However best of all, the evf of Gs are OLED which are polarized glasses (if you wear polarized sun glasses) friendly. I can reuse my polarised sun glasses again.

Re: GX7 and lenses

Might look for a de-kit copy (new, not used). There are plenty in the web, gray market.

GX7 - a warning!

Fantastic night clouds. Turned on GX7, black screen with A F4.0 ISO 200. Denied taking photos. Hit all buttons - or so I thought - no good. So I gave up and used GRII on a tripod instead. Very good focusing in the dark.. Then I found disp on GX7, problem solved. Must have hit disp before turning off. Tried the same with 3 other cameras, no problem. Never happened in 15 yers. Of course all of you know this, but very peculiar behaviour. Other strange behaviour?

Re: GX7 - a warning!

Have you check the eye sensor setting (P.7/8 under Custom Menu)?

If the  LVF/Monitor Auto has been set to off, and by hitting fn4 (if it has not been assigned with any feature), you might have accidentally switch into evf only mode.

On power up, if you do not put your eye to the evf, LCD will be in totally black, but the camera should still be responsive...

🤔

Most behavior is strange until you become accustomed to it.

A universal in Panasonic cameras is that clicking the Disp button cycles through the display formats, also through the pages in the menu system, and also through the pages in the quick menu.

Olympus has a similar button.

Thanks! Another trap...now I know! More likely to figure that out. Important not to panic. Be calm and try everything. Long time ago just having charged batteries, saw some mother of pearl clouds. Took out the Canon S2 but no response. Well, a shame I thought and walked on. Later found one battery the wrong way... Luckily the same kind of clouds appeared...next year...

OK. But must be some difference between GX7 and G3. Can't remember ANY problem with G3. Next time I travel it's in the bag...

12-60mm f/3.5-5.6

...and then one 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 appeared for around $260. Guess that's not bad. Just have to ask to compare to other lenses.

I see two at half that price at ebay, don't know if that's good or not. And at amazon $400+, not surprised...

Re: 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6

This is a very interesting lens.

I had de-kitted it on purchasing G85 (I didn't wish to retire the good old 12~35 f/2.8 yet since I know, if I have it, it will be my major walking around lens).

A fantastic zoom range for my major use. 😁

I read that on IQ, it is very close to the Panny Leica version.

Because it has been a kit lens to a  few models, there are a lot of them de-kitted on the gray market. For quite a long time I saw offers in the region between HK$1.7K ~ HK$1.9K ( around US$220~250). 2 weeks ago on my window shopping I saw an offer of HK$1.45K only (US$185)! F.Y.I.

I once used to buy from authorized dealers only. But as the over aggressive listed price of Panny, I turn to gray market in recent years.
