PowerShot SX70 vs PowerShot SX60

Besides 4k video differences, is the image quality much different between the 2? The sx70 does have 20MP vs 16MP.

Thanks.

The SX70 does seem to be getting a more positive reaction than the SX60 did is the impression I get. Nothing specific to say though.

Re: PowerShot SX70 vs PowerShot SX60

DPreview's review of the Nikon P950 mentions the Canon SX70, but does not compare the two.  No review yet of the SX70?  I have an aging SX50, which I keep in the kitchen were I can grab a bird-feeder shot, but for out-and-about birding I'd like a newer long zoom.  I never liked the SX50, because of its tiny EVF, and badly-arranged controls (frequently hit the self-timer button when in a hurry to get a shot).  Is the SX70 better?  Is the IQ as good as the SX50?

If you like the camera size of your SX50, then "yes" the SX70 will be a nice replacement.

The SX70 camera's EVF is really nice, have a 20mp sensor, and 21-1365mm zoom range.

Cheers!

I have an SX50 camera. I’m thinking about buying the SX60 - it has a much better viewfinder and faster autofocus. I do not consider buying an SX70 at all, I am not interested in a camera that does not have a hot shoe for an external flash

Looking at numerous postings I think I would deduce that the image quality went down hill after the SX50 without any doubt. The chase for reach and pixels outran the sensor size.

When the SX60 came out, I remember reading that the IQ wasn't as good as the SX50's.

Re: PowerShot SX70 vs PowerShot SX60

I've had two SX50s (the older one has developed lens extension issues after 150,000 images) and added an SX70 to my collection of cameras. Ever since I got the SX70 I've felt that the SX50s produced better images and comparison photos of the same subjects at the same settings confirmed that.

However, my aging eyes really appreciate the vastly better viewfinder on the SX70; the improved ergonomics are a plus as well. Now I've purchased a second SX70 and plan to sell my newer SX50 (2,500 images +/-) since I'm using the SX70 almost exclusively. Before I purchased the second SX70 I did comparison shots between that camera and my SX70 (very cooperative local camera shop that I've patronized for years). The new camera's images are comparable to the SX50's. Individual variation or has Canon made some modification to the hardware or software?
