Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM on Canon mirrorless?

Has anyone tried this Sigma (non Art) on Canon mirrorless? I own Canon f/1.8 on M50, but I want to try something with better background isolation and bokeh. Thanks.

Do you have enough room for the (outstanding) Canon 135mm f/2L?

No, that's too long for me, I would prefer 85.

Ahhh, gotcha.  Indoors even my 100 is often a bit too long for me.  And my 85/1.8 seems to need a serious update for the latest M.  I’ve been getting by with the Sigma 56 instead.  It’s a very nice lens.

Well good luck with your quest!

Do you need AF? There are numerous reasonably priced third party manual lenses (with EF mount) available, which are highly regarded for bokeh and background isolation.

no but the old sigma 30mm 1.4 non-art works fine on the Canon M5

Hi!

Sorry, I have used that lens only with 20mp m43 camera. That, at least works well...

Hello, Im wondering if any of you have experienced problems using the Sigma 85mm on a mirrorless Canon body.  Mine seems to be triggering the peripheral illumination setting and creates circular shadows throughout the frame.  Shutting off the feature only darkens the entire frame.  Any thoughts?

According to this article, https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2012/08/canon-illumination-correction-and-third-party-lenses/, it's telling your body's lens corrections that it's a Canon EF 17-35 f/2.8, so it's no wonder the camera corrections can't cope at wider apertures. Maybe try some positive exposure compensation just with that lens if you are getting the entire frame too dark when you switch the peripheral illumination corrections off.

Hi,

Realize this thread is kind of old but I have tried the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX HSM *non-ART on a M6.II and an M2 via an EF-to-M adapter and it works perfectly fine.

Focuses quickly, no noise, does not hunt.
