"New" EX2f.
3

I read about this camera earlier, never planned to buy. But the color, the tilting screen, the solid seller, and $100 seems ok. The lens cap not a favourite, seems I get used to it. It was getting dark, only used ISO 200 which seems to be fine. The daylight WB seems a bit cold, maybe a bit blue-green, like NX10? Auto WB fine, like NX500. I found a thin strap for it. Not used those in picture. Think I will use it for photo walks, especially in the sun, not action camera. Compared to a G12 someone gave me (lens stuck at full zoom!) it seems small and elegant.

Re: "New" EX2f. NR?

Can't find adjustment for noise reduction. Is there any? Automatic NR? Some ISO 200 images seems too noisy (and a bit soft). Maybe it's the 1/30 second, it's a bit dark, maybe I expect too much. But how does the leaves look to you?

Not the best screen for bright conditions...

Did not see much of this, but seen it before. maybe I can adjust a bit.

Rather steep here, but maybe OK.

I remember jokes about this camera's screen. AMOLED stands for Any Moderate Overhead Light Extinguishes Display
Nice camera regardless, have fun shooting.

Thanks! But then I have NX20, so not a big problem. And otherwise I like it. Can't see any noise in small images.

Did you manage to get the wifi to work? (I've had an EX1 since 2011 and bought a 'new' EX2f the other day) When I try to upload pictures to an iPad I get an incompatible camera message.

I like both cameras.

Hm, I don't know! Never tried, apart from hitting the wrong place and something happened. Anyway, good luck! Mine in the closet just now, trying my new GX7 which is fine in the sun.

Re: "New" EX2f.

It's really the Schneider lenses that I'm interested in.

Did not think so much about that, must admit it was the color and the screen. But I know they make very good lenses...

From what I remember the early reviews criticised lens distortion but a firmware update fixed that. All these lenses need that.

Lovely camera but the reviews said more for the RAW users and I found the options to alter JPEG settings in camera very limited, inflexible not within specific picture options giving a lot of greyouts.

Many users when the 2 came out were disappointed how little had been improved in firmware menu options from the first edition. Shows how easy it is to knock out a good camera but writing the software for it is the tricky part.

I've only had my EX2f for a short time so can't really compare to my EX1. I've had the latter for nearly ten years and have used it with satisfaction mainly for travel. As a photographer I find that choice of subject overrides any other consideration, with lens next and the camera itself last. I've always liked the images from my EX1, and haven't had a problem with JPEGs, although I mainly shoot RAW. Other photographers are much more qualified to spot technical weaknesses. Lacking these insights, I've always been satisfied with my EX1 and the Schneider lens, which I can compare with Leica lenses on other compacts I possess

I had my white ex2f a few years now. I use WiFi with the Samsung mobile link app (I think I downloaded it as a APK file from somewhere and not the appstore). It works with Android 8.0 and an older Lenovo tablet just fine.

The camera is quite responsive and works well as a street camera, to me the jpeg output is fine most of the time. I find the grain at higher iso quite pleasing, seen much worse from the more established brands. But the star of the show is the lens, it's a stellar performer.

Snapshot at indoors zoo, poorly lit room, iso 1600

Quick and responsive AF, on a bus through window at cruising speed

Sharp lens

Yes, I agree. Thanks for the lovely images. The Schneider lens in the EX2F is different to the one in my EX1 but doesn't suffer by comparison.

Nice!

I looked for the conversion lens + the hot shoe video mic for quite a while, but they seem difficult to find these days.

The outlet I usually buy from, here in Melbourne, had a new one in stock, just a few weeks ago. I was amazed. Of course I had to pay full price, where the camera which I found in an adjoining suburb was second hand.

Re: "New" EX2f.

It's hard to explain about the Schneider lens. I think it's because they often produce an effect that's like a glow. Not always, but often enough to stand comparison with high quality primes by others.

Yes, I agree. I use it mainly for macro, close-ups, portrait and b&w street photography at medium distance. For landscapes and wide angle urban environments not so much. Would be nice with a sensor update. I wonder if/when we will see a compact with the latest large sensor phone technology, but with the computational parts mapped to physical controls. Probably never I'm afraid.

This where the wide angle conversion lens comes in.

It seems that the wa conversion lens is not compatible with the exif data output.. Or is there an update? What firmware version is your camera on?
