You sold the idea of a 90mm f/2 to me .. picking it up on Saturday !

Thank you.

Thank you! You will definitely not regret it, trust me. Btw. I believe this is the lens that makes one a better photographer. It´s a fix focal lens, which means you won´t take as many shots as you would with a zoom, but the ones you´ll take will be a step above. This lens is a pure joy to use, it forces you to go and shoot. And one more thing - try how it glares wide open or close to wide open, it´s a delight. Here´s one example, It´s a JPG straight out of camera (!). I just love to shoot with this lens.

Michael, these are persuasive images and my favourite is your #4 of the dog giving her paw but the attractive girl with the dogs, #5 is a close second.

For me, a fixed 90mm lens for city photography is not flexible enough so I usually use a 16-85 on a Nikon DX camera if I don't mind being noticed but I'm here in a Fuji forum because for stealth when I want to be unnoticed I use a Fuji X100F (fixed 23mm lens).

By the way, you have a great country which I have visited many times, especially Brno.

Thank you, David!  I´m glad you like the shots indeed.

I believe that when it´s not a paid job when you have to cover an event, using a high quality prime can make one´s shots better. If it´s a tighter FL, when the scene gets closer it forces to shoot more details, more emotions, but when it´s taking place further away, it gives a nice flattering compression to the scene. It forces to creativity. And knowing that the OP has also a nice wideangle lens, when needed he also has the small f/2 primes, then I believe this is a great addition that will make his photography portfolio really interesting.

I live not far from Brno, there are some really nice places in our coutry. Not very exotic, but the feel of history is definitely here.

I have been looking for a prime to support some freelance writing work - mostly people, objects, places, etc. - and this thread has convinced me to go with the 90 mm F2. While the composition aspect may be a little more challenging than a zoom, I am really looking for the ability to isolate subjects. This lense seems to be a perfect solution. And the quality of the images is spectacular. Ordering today. Thank you all for the information, especially Mike in the Czech Republic.

I can't see anything casual about any lens as large as the 50-140mm. The 90mm isn't small either. If I had to choose, I'd take the 90...and did.
