XT4 - Focus point gets stuck

Hi

I use my XT4 for more than two weeks now and a recurring problem is that the focus point gets stuck on the screen and it cannot be moved or reset to the middle of the frame. The camera needs to be turned off and on to resolve the issue.

Is anyone else having such a problem?

That's frustrating.  I suggest you contact Fuji Support.  They need to hear about things like this and if there are a cluster of reports with the same symptoms then they will get to work solving the issue.

Yeah I have the same issue. I’m new to Fuji and thought I was doing something wrong haha.

In my case, the single-point focus indicator isn't stuck, but following each shutter actuation, the point reverts to the upper left-hand corner of the screen.  I'll also await the fix.

This happened to me with my GFX 100 and it was a faulty EVF.

You may have to send it in. But try resetting the camera to factory defaults first.  Then play with different focus box sizes. Then manual focus the camera with focus peaking. Switch back to AF and switch between all the focusing options.

Switch between single point and the zones and see what happens. Play with the camera a lot.  Shoot a hundred shots and move that focus point randomly.  Try it in bright light vs low light and see if that changes anything. If it does that is an EVF problem probably.  Shoot single and machine gun fire.

Try it on LCD only without the EVF off.  Try all the EVF settings.

Does the eye detect work perfectly? Move you eye back and forth on the eye cup and see it detects cleanly. Try all the the EVF settings and see if they work cleanly, especially eye detect.

If the focus point still freezes in all of those situations you have a serious fault and New Jersey will fix it.

Tim, try what I said and see it has any effect.  If it does not, then this is a serious problem and you can bet Fuji sees this.

Check:

Note: If you have it set to PUSH to Unlock it will lock after every shot.

Also don't forget if you have Touch Screen Mode (AF/MF setting 3/3) set to AF, once you touch the screen the XT4 focuses and locks focus and the AF touch indicator shows a green square with AF inside. At this point the focus lever is locked and you can't move the AF point. The only way out is to touch the green square again (or switch off). I think I saw this in a Pal2Tech YouTube video.

I hardly ever use this feature and have my Touch Screen Mode set to Area
