Coolpix A - Still Gorgeous
10

A little camera porn, on a rainy day. Now I want to take it out and see if I can make a good image with it later today, as the sun seems to be trying to come out. Have you made any images with your CPA lately? Please post.

For those interested in technical aspects, this was made in Portrait Mode/Stage Light on the iPhone.

I'm not sure which is more gorgeous, the camera or the photo made of the camera by the iphone.

I took a walk with the CPA and the most photogenic subject encountered was a customized truck. These really needed little or no editing. What a great little camera! Will have to carry it more often.

Phone cameras just keep getting better. A fact of life I can live with.

Great picture of your fabulous Coolpix A camera!

Really nice grips added on for the enhancement.

I'm lucky to have the silver version of the camera.

And I'm trying to use mine for street photography.

My CPA camera.

Cheers!

Phone is handy to have at times.

It would have been great if the CPA could take its own selfies. Nothing is perfect.

I am still getting excellent results from my CPA. We are re-planting our roses. This is the last one.

I had used my A1000 and D5600 to take the same, but the sharp lens and matrix metering of the CPA did the magic again. I must be biased.

I am not a good photographer. I never use manual. I always rely on the Camera to get the optimum settings for the shot. The CPA somehow always manages to get it right even under the worst situations.

The following is the best ever that the CPA had got for me. The kids were sitting under bright sun through the skylight. Their faces were heavily shaded. I normally would have used fill-in flash.

I selected auto mode and had the camera very close to the table pointing to their faces. The camera did the rest.

SOOC, just cropped.

Yes, the same for me!

Great. Sharp, vibrant colors. Yes, you should use your CPA more often, and share some pictures!

This one is just magic. This little camera does wonders. Take care of it. And of your family too.

Nuremberg, Germany in May 2020 - I love the colours (OOC)

Sunset at Ngapali Beach, Myanmar in March 2020 - Pretty colours as well (OOC)

Two recent pictures from my side to keep up the thread.

The small downside of this fantastic camera: Some dust has accumulated again on the sensor, obvious in the second picture. I managed to hoover out some of the dust since but some is still stuck in the center. Maybe I have to send the camera to service again. But it's still gorgeous

Very nice pictures from your Coolpix A. Yes, I see the dust spot in the 2nd one. Spots like this (in the sky, on that picture) can be easily removed with Capture NX-D, which is free.

Indeed! I camel hair brush all surfaces clean on mine after every use.  I found out by trial and error through four previous CPAs that it was probably sloughed-off skin cells from my hands being sucked into the camera innards during power up and shut down cycles.  I've had this one for a year, and so far the sensor is still clean.

I’m often amazed at how good the iPhone 8 Plus images are. One day when all the others are out of commission in their display places a phone will cover all my needs.

Thanks for the advice, Andre and Papa48! Yes, I usually keep my CPA in a plastic bag and clean it often - but the dust won over. But it's usually easy to remove the spots in Lightroom, I've just been to lazy to process the second picture

Have fun with your cameras and keep on posting!

Well, just for fun, I took a picture of my Coolpix A with my second Coolpix A (I guess this is as close to a CPA selfie as it gets):

CPA captured by another CPA

Since your original photo was captured with your iPhone 8, I figured what the heck, I'll shoot one with my iPhone XS too (just using the regular "photo" mode). Here's how that one turned out:

CPA captured with iPhone XS

Since I'm at it already, might as well take one with the Nikon Z50 (w/ 16-50mm kit lens) too just for fun:

CPA captured with Nikon Z50 w/ kit lens

Funny comparison. No big surprise: 1 Z50 /2 CPA /3 Iphone

But the difference are so tiny that we can say that at low iso all cameras give the same results.

The differences will be obvious as soon as you raise the iso.
