M200 most popular camera

I noticed the M200 is the most popular camera today. Why are so few talking about it ?

I sure like it that you can use it with eos utility to connect to the computer for tethered shooting.  M100 won't do that.

The user manual is better than the M100 manual too.  More like the the other Canon user manuals.

How do you derive the conclusion that M200 is the most popular camera today?

I am seeing it on the right side on this page where it says Most popular cameras.

Well, I notice that now. Actually, I don't know why M200 is the most popular one. Is there any poll section here?

I would assume this is based on what people search for on dpreview and what articles they read?

DPR recently declared the M200 "Best Camera Under $500", so more people are clicking on reviews of it.

https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/buying-guide-best-cameras-under-500

DPR's Most Popular Cameras list is "Interchangable Lens Cameras receiving the most views in reviews and previews in the last 5 days."

Interesting. I didn't know this.

According to the specs the AF should be really good. It's still a bit expensive compared to the M50 in my opinion.

That's the ranking of cameras that got the most views on DPR in the last few days. In other words, it is heavily influenced by the articles that ran on DPR recently.

If I remember correctly, there was a re-post of the "Buying Guide: Best Cameras under $500 " a few days, ago, in which the M200 is the top choice. That probably drove the page views.

Entry level Mirriorless are selling! Went from the M200 to the M50. Didn't think I would need the EVF and mic jack at first. The screen articulation is better in my opinion on the M50.

I have the M50 but I've been looking at the M100-200 coupled with the 22mm for street shooting.  I think the 200 tethered to  smart phone would add a stealth feature to the setup.

Because it's probably one of those unexciting cash cows that people actually buy rather than discuss. Like a Toyota Corolla or something.

I guess so. They have not marked the price down on the M200 except for The Content Creator Kit.

I do think I might like that little tripod and remote.

Looks like there may have been a "flip"

In Q3 2015 Canon USA got the EOS M3, after Canon Japan and Canon Europe got it Q1 2015 (earlier).

Canon Korea, launched the M200 2 days ago apparently. We've (Canon USA) had it for nearly 6 months or something like that?

The Asian market for the EOS M is huge. They're probably all Googling it and most of them speak English so DPR is a natural website hit.

Maybe Canon Korea (and others probably) delayed launching the M200 to promote the RP in the same way I gather Canon USA delayed the M3 which I believe they said something about their market which at the time was heavily DSLR? Seems logical Canon "took the gloves off" given their recent market report and them wanting to address lower end market, or something like that. This would be one means to that end.

That sure could explain it. M200 is #5 now. Half the cameras on the popular list are Canon with the R on top. Wow.

After recent neck and back surgery my M100 is about all I can carry and having the dropsies and a being a fall risk walking with an expensive camera is not going to happen.

i bought my M100 with a ef-m 15-45mm and a ef-m 55-200mm for $399 new from Canon. First new digital camera I ever bought.

Got it to take pictures at the hospital but liked it so much my other cameras have stayed in the dry box.

Main use of the M100 now is to take pictures for ebay to sell all my other too heavy cameras and lenses.

Light weight low cost easy to carry cameras that take great photos for me now.

Those hospitals have special privacy laws protecting patients (in the USA), heads up. That's one place it could get you in hot water as photographic law follows who's property you're on at the time you take the shot. In the case of the hospital, be VERY careful as I'm not a lawyer but I'd bet my lunch those notices when you enter the hospital saying cellphone photography is banned mean bigger problems than just your camera confiscated. Certainly the M100 is a much bigger cellphone camera...

It's small enough for it, sure.

I would expect so, I've been thinking of buying one for my partner. I would say that camera hits all the right notes for most of us.

Out of all examples you could have gone with for unexciting cash cows, you went with one of the most reliable and stylish cars out there

It was kind of exciting for me because I had a Canon 24mp camera that I could take to car shows without having to get real sore. I get carried away and get on the ground and such sometimes. Now no car shows.

I have made more money with my M100 than any other camera selling stuff on ebay.

Good ebay photos can really make the sale and get a good price too.

My M100 has turned a profit for sure.
