1 week 1 walk 1 prime - week 2, 50mm f/2

A bit underexposed as I tried not to blow the highlights on the trees too much (SooC)...

...and after a quick bit of post in Capture One

This little 50 is super sharp (NB slight softness in bottom left corner is due to lack of DoF):

I would normally have a polariser and a grad on for this kind of shot, but quite impressed how C1 lifts detail from shadows and highlights in the X-T2 raw file.

One thing I am already starting to think though that the AoV of the 50 is too close to the 35 to make 16/35/50 a nice 3 primes kit..... kind of leaves me wishing there was a light 70 or 75mm option.

Nice job!  A lot of fun.  I must tell you though, I like the one without the shadows so heavily lifted.

I have for many years lifted too much shadow in post.  Even with all that incredible DR w MF, I try to resist the temptation to lift the shadows too much.

It can mess with the dimensionality, pop, contrast and appeal of an image.

But, when you need to lift do so.  Your choice.  Part of the art right?  😀

Yep, it's all a matter of taste. TBH I would normally spend a lot more than the 3 minutes I did post-processing this one - and probably do several variants and print them, then leave them for a few days before looking again. Not personally a fan of the HDR 'look', normally prefer something a bit more subtle - hence why I still use grads usually.
