Panny Leica 15mm w/EM5.3, E-PL9

I had forgotten that this lens has one of those "magical looks" that is so nice. And small.

Seems a bit pricey but consider you do get a metal hood and it's quality draws high.

EM5.3 from tonight. Streets mostly deserted as it's late and everyone keeping their distance. E-PL9 shots from today follow.

E-PL9

The shots with the Em5.3 were exported with DX0 though they barely needed it (just for a level of the building shot and a bit of crop adjust).  Didn't use PRIME noise reduction.

The shots here from E-PL9 are other than the resize, jpegs out of the camera, except for the Recycle shot which I adjusted bright/contrast on purpose from raw. Probably could have gotten this look in-camera too.

If you have and use this lens, share some of your shots!

15 is an incredible lens.

Love the hood and it was mounted since I unbox this lens... 😃

It has become my primary street lens. Love its compact size and AF speed.

What set this lens apart from other wide-angle ish lens are the nice rendering of the background and its slightly warmer rendering of color.  "Slightly" is the key word here so it is done with subtlety .  All PL lenses I have owned, including the 45/2.8, have these characteristics, and they are well worth the price.

PL15mm on a g80.

I like the extra aperture ring. One thing you need is check time to time it's position.😉

Due the fast aperture is it a great lens for evening en night shots.

Good overal sharpnes and great colors and contrast rendering.

Same as my PL12-60mm. Somehow the PL's  have just more pop then the lumix lenses.

Totally agree with that extra "pop" comment.

I haver the PL 25, 15 and 8-18 and love how the images look from those lenses and my GX9.

I have the P 12-60 and am seriously considering getting the PL version just because I love the character in my other PL lenses.

Cheers

I find the lens hood on my PL15 is wobbly/loose. I bought it new and it has never left me with much confidence for it to stay on the lens,.. that being said I like the look go the lens hood and would leave it on if I could.

I recently ordered a few step down/ set up filter rings to see if I can create my own hood.

Re: Panny Leica 15mm w/EM5.3, E-PL9

There was a recent thread on this.

I am not sure how others will expect it, mine is not more loosely fit than hoods of my other Panny lenses.

But I found if the model number was on the upper side, it was on the wrong mounted position and despite of the click, it was rather loose.

The issue for mine is that some of the leaf holders sort of broke. I mean whatever it is that holds the hood. It used to click in place. It's like the lens is made solid except this part.
