SX60 WiFi connection with MAC
1

Since the Canon Internet Gateway has been replaced by canon.image I'm no longer able to "add a device" (specifically my MAC BookPro) on my SX60 Camera.  I've been able to set up the Canon Connect app on my iPhone and my iPad so with some additional time, I can transfer pic's from my Camera to my iPhone or iPad and then AirDrop them onto my MAC although it seems that there should be an easier way to WiFi them directly to my Mac Computer.  Oh, Yes, I can use a connection cable to transfer although I'm trying to stay as update a possible with as little equipment as possible and in today's day and age, it seems that there should be some way of WiFi-ing them from the camera to the Mac.  If there is, I have not been able to find it.  Can anyone out there assist with this task?  Am I over looking something (likely) obvious?  Since the Gateway was removed, I found that Canon.image has eliminated the SX60 from the Canon.image cloud!  My camera will not connect to it and oh I miss it.  Can anyone assist with this issue.  Thanks for taking your time!!!

Re: Canon delete WiFi connection with MAC/W10

I have been searching for a similar solution for Windows also without result. Canon disconnected a lot of cameras, and deleted accounts. Here is the connectable model list.

I have not got any solution from Canon themselves, and the only suggestions I have received on the forums consist of doing it manually via clunky routes, rather last century. No way so far of getting the functionality I bought working again.

I would love to get the system working again, but it seems unlikely given the unsupport from Canon and lack of cogent solutions here.

It has been suggested that I have been "unlucky", (which is a bit odd as this is the result of a deliberate policy by Canon, no luck involved), and I should just mark it as a loss and move on.

So I will indeed move on. I'm in the market for a new camera for the autumn, budget approx £1500. I don't know which camera yet, but I can assure you it won't be a Canon.

Fool me once, shame on you, etc. etc.

Good luck

Re: Canon delete WiFi connection with MAC/W10

Thanks so much for your response Woodturner!  It's nice to know that I'm not alone and that I may not have missed something here.  I too, (due to this situation) am VERY disillusioned with Canon!  I purchased my SX60 only about 2 years ago (likely less), specifically due to the internet WiFi capabilities and enjoyed using the wifi capabilities with image-gateway and my computer although they have COMPLETELY removed that option while still claiming Computer Wifi capability for this camera (if you look at vendors offering it for sale).  Had I not just purchased the Camera such a short time ago, I'd be looking for alternatives apart from Canon, may still consider doing so.   Thanks again for the response!!
