When a Plan Comes together

I've had some plans to do underwater photography for a while.  Just sort of rolling around in the back of my head, when …. (don da da DAH!), there was an underwater housing and a cell phone water protector at the thrift store.

The weather was just warm enough for wading and this was the first foray:

First under water picture.

I am going to solicit for tips.  I'm mostly interested in creek photography as well as swimming photography.  If I had access to crystal clear oceans, I'd be willing to spend more :).

So basically, I was using the Sony(a5100) play memories app to control the camera with wifi, since none of the buttons were in the right place.

I was hoping to fit larger better faster lenses and or a macro into the housing, but the a5100 just nominally fit with a 35mm C-mount lens.  I am kind of glad I had that lens, now.  I wonder if there are better low profile lenses to use with WP-DC34.

Any tips on creek shooting.  I think the 35mm lens had a macro adapter I might dig that out.  I had a blast wading even though you can see it was dirty city water.  I feel like split focus would be a help with the shallower creeks in my neighbor hood.

I wanted to get some of these flowers, but it seems that where there is sun light, there is algae:

I think the fuzz is at least in part due to condensation in the cold water.

Looks like you may be somewhat of a pioneer here.  I say go develop your own techniques and tell us about them here.

As for the photography, find an interesting subject.   I'm not even sure what's interesting underwater in creeks as I've never looked, nor ever seen more than a few pictures.  The pictures I have seen are mostly salmon runs.
