Wonderful 14mm lens
7

I recently bought the Fujifilm 14 f2.8 (used) and I really like it. It's sharp (already at 2.8 and from f4 even better). Very good for landscape, but also for street if you want more context. Off course there have been many before me speaking highly of this lens and for a reason, it's very good. It's certainly not cheap but the optics are very good and for what I understand the optics don't need correcting in software.

I really like the way the manual focus works with the so called clutch mechanism. It's simple, you pull it back and it's in manual mode. In manual mode a scale is revealed which makes zone focusing very easy.

I used to have the Samyang 12 f2, but sold it a few years ago. I liked this lens, but I didn't like the fact that the infinity mark was not correct (not having autofocus is not a problem with wide angle, but I want the infinity mark to be correct. I also missed the aperture exif information.

Having 23 and 60mm I missed wide angle. So I bought the 14mm and I love it. It's nice and small too.

Some reviews have commented on the aperture ring being too loose. I understand this. Compared to the 23f2 and 90f2 I owned, it is not as tight and it's possible it moves by accident. But I honestly think I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't read about it.

The autofocus is fast enough and in my experience almost never misses (i.e. my 60mm can miss sometimes, even my 23 f1.4, but this lens is very accurate).

So I really like it. A few examples…(pictures made in Holland and Greece).

It is excellent.  I bought it hoping to learn about perspective.  I'm still working on it.
