You can't have motorsports without cars, but you also can't have it without people.

Takuma Sato celebrates his second Indianapolis 500 victory.

Here's a few from last weekend . Our Qld Hillclimb Championships were held over 3 days, Friday and Saturday practise and Sunday competition day. Plenty of competitors considering Covid restrictions. Nice to be racing again.

4 litre V8 Judd powered Dallara hillclimb special

Sweet mkI Escort

turbo rotary powered OMS Hillclimb special lifting both fronts on gear change.

mkII Escort this time lifting two inside wheels

Great shots! Love the Escorts, driven as they should be - opposite lock and wheels in the air! Good work Sir!

Thanks. You'll be pleased to know those two Escort drivers give 'em heaps all the time.

It's a tight little (up and down) hillclimb circuit, just under 1km long. A great place to photograph particularly for a Title event, everybody is having a red hot go.

turbo MR2 sports sedan sideways and a wheel up

a close one of the Dallara giving it some berries.

... and they're very nice too.

I thought that photography was an expensive hobby but I can imagine that the cost of  maintaining and running these would be in a different league!

Re: Few more Nostalgia Drag Racing shots

Yeah, my perception of photography is that it’s really cheap! Even when you look at my gear list which I guess a few people could only dream of. I’m lucky I guess, I have a good job, work long hard hours and an understanding wife! But in all honestly drag racing nearly took all that away. It really is like a drug. The ‘high’ of running faster and faster just takes over. My wife sat me down one day with all the numbers on a small piece of paper and simply said ‘you can’t carry on like this’. I knew she meant it! Ironically I got a camera so I could stay in touch with the racing that I loved so much and started shooting the class in which I’d raced.

Quiet here, so here's a couple more from our recent Qld Hillclimb Championships.

All locked up

started by running off outside edge of track and tank slapped to the infield

Not much room left

Unloading the back end.

Hope to get back there at some stage but the way things are it won't be before 2021.  So I'm looking at old photos to keep the enjoyment going.

thanks Steve, I checked out your galleries, very nice, you get to some great meetings. I see and share your appreciation for Escorts and all race cars with a bit of age. We used to have a Quattro Grp B replica come out occasionally to the hill too. Superb !

Here's a couple of different Mk1's for fun.

v8 mk1

mint mk1

Sadly the orange car was destroyed in an accident being towed home from a race event. Everyone ok but tow car and race car both written off by fire. New mk2 being built to take its place.

Cool! They look great in the sunshine! That circuit seems to encourage three wheel action!

Although I had more MK2's as a teenager/twenties than MK1's I still prefer the softer lines of the MK1 especially with the works rally bubble arches.

I'll dig out a couple of snaps of my Escort days!
