Android picture viewer

Hi,

I am looking for a simple, fast, colour managed picture viewer for Android. Full screen is must, and slide show would be OK.

Most apps on the Play Store seem to be "galleries". They are organisers, have editing features etc etc.

I don't need that. I take my pictures on a high quality DSLR, and process them in Photoshop.

But I load some of them to my phone to show to friends at lunches, etc.

They are organised in nested folders, so the viewer must respect this, and work similarly to a file manager.

Any advice would be appreciated. Free or modest price.

In the past I used the QuickPic, but that somehow disappeared.

Thanks

Re: Android picture viewer

If you like(d) QuickPic, you can sideload it via APK from a reliable site - this is a good one but I always keep a third-party malware scanner (currently BitDefender Free) on board to scan any app not from the Play Store

https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/cheetah-mobile/cm-quickpic/

You can install pre-Cheetah older versions that don't have the obnoxious aspects of the Cheetah Mobile acquisition. I'd suggest trying them out on your particular device.

There have been discussions of alternatives here. I use Piktures Gallery (Diune) because it supports OneDrive cloud, but that may not matter to others. Many like F-stop Gallery (Seelye) which is quite good but fails my OneDrive requirement.

By the way, if all you want is to view JPEGs from a folder, most of the better file managers will do that.  I use X-plore (Lonely Cat) that nicely shows thumbnails, opens and swipes through a folder of JPEGs, but dual-pane is an acquired taste.  Other good file managers do the same.

Re: Android picture viewer

Not sure about a Photo Viewer app but FWIW, someone at XDA-Developers has been updating or modifying the last known good (non Cheeta spam) version of QuickPic & has moved it into 2020 & to work safer with the newer versions of Android OS. The last "safe" version of QuickPic I think was v3.4.9.1. You can read the forum or do a search of the XDA Forums for more info about the QuickPic app history & find a link to that safe version & a few other versions in that era.

Here is the forum thread on the latest modified version & still free, now just called QP Gallery (2020) . It is just as nice as the original QP, still a small app & some new updated features & safer for the newer versions of Android.
