Should I upgrade my GX8 to G9?

EVF with glasses

Those of you who are using glasses. How do you find G9's EVF compared to GX8?

I just read a thread where some people are complaining about the G9's EVF and I don't have a opportunity to test it myself without ordering it. G9 should have better EVF but now I'm not so sure anymore.

I think most of the "complaints" about the G9's EVF are that it has slight pin-cushion edges.  I never notice it unless I really look for it.

The G9 has a V Mode button near the EVF that lets you select three sizes for the image in the EVF.  My understanding is that the slightly smaller sizes are primarily for people who wear glasses.  All of them are great, IMO, but I don't wear glasses when taking photos.  I don't think you should worry about the EVF.

I own & use both cameras, I wear glasses, they're both excellent viewfinders. I actually bought the deeper eye cup for the GX8 to see if it helped with eliminating stray light. It did, kind of.

People will complain about anything if they're desperate enough to try & find faults. The old fashioned word for that is called nit picking

add-on eyecups

I like the deeper eyecups on my GX7 and GX8, but I did not like the one for the G9.  Too big, too deep.  I tried cutting it to make it angled (I wish they made one of those for it), but I butchered it.

I bought the bigger eye cup for my GX9.  It helps in bright daylight, but makes the camera more clumsy to insert into a nice snug fitting bag!

Keep it fun!

Yeah, the G9 is spot on. The GX8 was just a little bit shallow, & quite hard. You can see it sitting on top of the camera in the shot I posted for comparison's sake

If size and weight of G9 will worry you, why not consider the G95?

Or the G85 which is considerably cheaper than the G95 which is still more expensive (though with a lower spec) than the G9?
