A6000 only saves half of frame

When I look through finder and press shutter camera only records on to SD card left half of picture. Am I accidently setting something wrong as next picture is perfect?

Is the other half of the picture black? Does this happen in both jpg and raw? Can you try another memory card?

The only setting I can imagine is 'auto framing' but it crops the image instead of making half of it black.

Difficult to diagnose blindly.  Post an example.

Since A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS, it would be very useful if you would post one.

..yah, even if it's only worth 500 words.

A few things can be happening..

- messed up camera

- corrupt data

- shooting with a. flash/strobe at higher than recommended sync speed.

hah!

actually, delete the part about the flash/strobe, that only occurs when the bottom or top half of the picture is blank sometimes, never the left or right side.

that's def a messed up camera.

or are the photos messed up while viewing in-camera, or just on a computer?

Re: A6000 only saves half of frame

Could be a corrupt memory card.  Try to format the card in the camera and see if that resolves the problem.  If not, try a new card.  If new card doesn't fix it, then it is probably time for it to be serviced.  However, considering the cost of the a6000 today, I'd probably buy new/used rather than service the camera.

Re: A6000 only saves half of frame

It is likely that the Auto Portrait Framing setting was enabled accidentally. You need to go through the menu system and turn it off.

When Auto Portrait Framing is selected, you get two images...  the original image as shot and the auto-cropped image but the cropped image is upscaled automatically to the full 6000x4000 pixels...  no half images.    I never use auto portrait framing but I did just test it on my camera because I thought the above info was incorrect.

It is possible, however, that the original poster didn't explain his problem well enough.  Getting a half image is quite different than getting a cropped and upscaled image.

Re: A6000 only saves half of frame

It may be also called Auto Object Framing

MENU →  (Camera Settings1) → [  Auto Object Framing] → desired setting.

Re: A6000 only saves half of frame THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP

I have come to the conclusion that cameras these days do what they want not what we want. However the auto portrait framing is now switched off and lets hope it behaves itself

Re: A6000 only saves half of frame

Had the same thing happen to me on my a6000, but it turned out to be a missing lens-softwareupdate (in my case Touit 32). After updating, the combo worked as it should.
