Two questions about the UW case and arms and clamps
1

Scuba-diving was my lifelong dream, finally I was certified in Nov 2018. My original setup included Canon G7X, Recsea housing and one Sea & Sea YS-03 strobe. Unfortunately my Canon stopped recognizing memory cards. I decided to upgrade to Sony RX100 vii. I am trying to choose the case, the tray, arms and clamps. Most probably I will need a dual tray, I will buy another YS-03 strobe.  I need good quality products with reasonable  prices.

Could you please recommend the above and also explain why you are recommending a particular item? I would highly appreciate hearing from you.

Canon PowerShot G7 X Sony RX100

Nauticam housing, tray should be included.   I only have experience with Nauticam (and Canon for their point-n-shoot) housings.   The Nauticam I have for my RX100 II works perfectly.  Not sure why I bought it over the Recsea as that was my other choice.  Both seemed good.

I use the typical ultralight strobe arms in 5" and 8" sizes, optical trigger using pop-up flash.  STIX floats.   I bought the strobe arms and STIX floats back in 2015 and have about 200 dives on them.   I did replace the o-rings in the clamps a couple of years ago after the originals wore to the point there was little adjustment between loose and clamped-like-a-vise.

Re: Two questions about the UW case and arms and clamps

I've used Seafrogs/Meikon cases and ports for the a6500 and a7Rii since I started diving a few years ago  (93 photo dives so far). They've worked fine, no problems, although I've had to make some adjustments to get some of the functions to work reliably.  Seafrogs cost for an RX100vii case and accessories:

Housing with standard and macro port=367

Dome port=205

Vacuum valve= 120

Tray with two vertical arms=60

8 inch arm extensions and clamps=70

Total 822

Equivalent Nauticam=2367

Even if you go with the Nauticam housing, it may be worth considering the ancillary Seafrogs tray and arm fittings.

Re: Two questions about the UW case and arms and clamps

I have the Sony RX100Va. I have it in a Fantasea FRX100Va Vaccum housing (1). I also just got the SeaLife dual tray with flex arms per side (2). I also added an extra flex arms to each side (3).

I've used the Fantasea housing for over 20 dives and I have used the SeaLife tray system for only 1 dive. The best thing I like about the SeaLife flex system is I can bend the arms to form a loop which acts like a handle or arm loop. For a beach dive, I can slip the camera system onto my arm then shuffle out into to eater, float, then I can easily put on my fins with out fear of loosing my camera. I only beach dive when the surf is less than 1ft surf.

Thank you all for responding! Much appreciated. I am leaning towards Seafrogs. I wonder if there is any problem with the corona virus and their production.
