CANON G5X and 3rd party batteries

Just bought a second hand G5X with a WASABI battery and some of the features do not work!

Touch screen, Q and touch shutter, plus every time I take out the nearly end of life battery to charge it the day date time go back to 00.

Other features seem to be not right either. Would these symptoms be due to the WASABI battery?

I would buy a CANON proper if I was told yes its the battery or send it back to ebay.

Thanks

It's the Camera....

The camera issues you described are not battery related, they are problems in the camera itself.

You could try doing a factory reset, if you haven't already done so.  Failing that, it's time for a return or repair.

Hope this helps...!!

Canon did say that they were going to continue making it.

At the moment the little DC -1850 leather half case/jacket is going for £10 against £39.99 on the canon site and it does give a bit of protection and a larger grip. There is a battery flap so a nice little treat for the camera.

Re: It's the Camera....

Recieved full refund from eBay not the seller they never got back to me but I found a minty Nikon F100 to go with my minty Nikon D700 and will use my wife's horrible Canon elph as a pocket digital.📸

Thank you

Re: CANON G5X and date/time

resurrecting an old thread ...

I also bought a used G5x - everything seems to work fine except it keeps asking me to enter the date & time as if from scratch.
Happens mostly if battery is removed but also, I think, sometimes when memory card is removed or left off for a fair while.

Anyone know a fix for this?

thanks
Peter
