Olympus E-M10 II + 14-150 II

An alternative to the GX80 would be the Olympus E-M10 II (not the MkIII) with the Olympus 14-150 II. This gives a great walkaround combo with a 28-300mm equivalent FOV in a small package that, if shopped smart, is well within your budget, with money to spare.

If you decide on the GX80 or similar, I would recommend the Penny 14-140 for a similar package.

Update...

I see the OP has opted for the Penny 14-140 (good choice, IMO) so a a Pansy body would be the logical choice, although the E-M10 II would work as well.

Oly  Panny 100-300mm

Oly has the 75-300 only

All these are very valuable.

Well, looks like I decided to go with 14-140 II (which cames for around 350€ as kit with new body, also if I don't like it, can be sold for little lower). After browsing thru forums and tests, opinion is than IQ is even better than all other 45-150/ 175/ 200; except F2,8, which are far out of my price range. As well than I get very versatile zoom range. If I feel need for more reach at long end, than I can add later pana 100-300. As well as maybe some fast prime in 40-60mm range for low light/ playing with bokeh.

Regarding body still dilemma between GX80 (GX85) and G80 (G81/ G85). In features and IQ they looks the same, except form-factor. Price difference is about 200€ in both cases- in kit with 14-140 as well as body only. Just want to decide is better grip of G80 and weather proofing worth it. ( assume than 14-140 will be weather sealed version in kit with G80).

So there are several differences, and all in all unless the size is a killer I would always recommend the G80/85.

G80/85 vs GX80/85

Dual IS2.0 vs Dual IS

Weather sealing vs non

larger battery vs smaller

Mic input vs no mic input

better ergonomics  vs smaller size

Overall I consider the g80/85 the better camera

Hi,

Advice will be appreciated regarding choice of more or less universal and afordble tele lens (~ 70-250-300 equiv FL) on m43.

From begining- decided to migrate from Canon APSC to smaller/ lighter setup.

As for walkaround/ travel/ everyday camera almost choosed lx100 m1, question on second body for tele end, as well as some art etc.

Regarding body- yet looks like gx80 is way to go.

( touched in local camera shop oly omd e-m10 mark3; pana g7 and gx80 - definately oly isn't for my hands, g7 feels perfect; but due to size gx80 looks more prefferable) ( but not so categorical against body size- g7 also seems an option).

On Canon i have Canon 70-200/4 and Sigma 50-150/2,8. Both with positive feelings- for me most favorite is Sigma; for my wife Canon ( mainly due to weight).

So is here comparable alternative on m43 for those lenses, especially taking in account than I'm not willing to spend on this setup (body +lens) roughly more than ~800-900 € ( if buying second hand)?

Also- how about efs- m43 adapters- maybe option is adapter to use Canon lenses on m43? Just afraiding than focusing speed will be quite unacceptable in this case?

Thanks for opinions!

The Panasonic 35-100 f/2.8 is the most comparable lens to the Canon or Sigma that will fall within your budget if you buy used.  It will be a little shorter than the Canon, and a little slower than the Sigma.  The alternatives are the Olympus 40-150 f/2.8 or Panasonic 50-200 f/2.8-4, but neither of these lenses fit within your budget.

You can adapt your lenses, but then I don't see much point in moving to m43.  First, you are increasing the effective focal length of the lenses by a factor of about 1.5, so they will appear to be longer than you are used to.  You could opt for a Speedbooster, which alters the optics of the lens to make it wider and faster, but that will likely exceed your budget.  And finally, you don't get any weight/size savings by taking that approach, and you sacrifice some auto-focus speed and accuracy.

to repeat... IMHO the single biggest upgrade is the EVF!
