OK, here's one from Ireland (Giant's Causeway) using 8mm on my E-P5.......

...I may even dig out another one later.

Great image, Guy!

I luv it!, one of the best I've seen of Giant's Causeway.
It illustrates, IMO, one of the key cornerstones of many great images, especially in 'scenic/landscape'  - I call it the '2 hump camel'.  Not always necessary, but when possible, the image becomes more memorable.
I know, in my case, the camera has rarely (almost never) kept me from creating images of value - it most always has been an operator deficiency.
not knocking newer tech, just acknowledging the E-P5 (& other Oly) is still very viable and not yet 'antique'.

Please do keep looking for, and posting more E-P5 images.
I'll root thru mine for a few more.
Thx
Yuri

Very nice!

I've used an E-P5 for about 5 years, now. It's my only (current) m43 body. It came out just after the  original EM-5, and had a lot of small improvements that should have been on it, like the faster shutter.

I've not felt an upgrade necessary until recently, as nothing has really been that big of a deal among the em-10s and Pen F or even the GXs. It's a fantastic camera body, and THE example of the promise of the m43 system imo. Small, flexible, stylish, durable..

Another one...

The oldest bridge in Ireland at Trim. Also a really impressive old ruined castle there as well, a surprisingly nice town.

On that trip (Ireland + England) I use E-P5 + 8-18mm mostly (maybe 2/3 of shots) and the other 1/3 of shots on a Sony RX100M6 1" sensor compact with an excellent "24-200mm" lens. A nice and convenient combination, not much clutter or weight to carry.

Very Nice!

Here's one of mine, from Apr 2018 - Less common north ridge view of Ama Dablam, Nepal.
E-P5 w/ 14-150 (my one lens when every ounce counts...) image is downsized for easier upload.

Oly E-P5 w/ 14-150mm  @ 24mm, i think...

Back story - Small party were planning a summit of 'Island Peak' (approx 6200 m). Acclimatizing  in Dingboche (4400m). party went on a single day acclimatization hike of a very steep 800m. I decided was too difficult for me at the time, being by far the way oldest in the group. I decided to do solo hike up the Chukhung to a saddle view of Island Peak and base camp area - 600m up from Dingboche . more steady, better for me...
This image taken above a small settlement at about 4700m.
Clear day at 11am when image taken , within 1 1/2 hr clouds rolled in and by the time I got to the saddle, they had lowered completely and snowing heavily. I hustled back down in quickly accumulating snow. It dropped 1m snow in the next day - attempt cancelled and we hustled back to Namche to wait out the storm...
was an epic time - we all came out ok!
Thx

I'm partial to the black and silver version.

Somehow I like the look of the silver E-P5 better but use both my silver and black ones on a roughly 6 month rotation to even out the wear (no wear happening at present).

In my case my 12-32mm is black, but looks OK on either body. Way prefer to use the 12-40/2.8 or the 8-18/2.8-4 instead though.

That is what I like about the silver versions, they look good with either black or silver lenses.

In reality I spend more time and effort looking at the results I get, rather than looking at the camera.

Sure though it's nice to have a camera that feels and looks good. That's why I stay with E-P5 and don't intend getting out and about regularly with my more recently acquired E-M10 Mk2 - I simply cannot take to the "clunkiness" of that one.

At home and for slide copy and odd things I have an E-PL5, usually with the 60mm macro on it, that is another neat small body, another true Pen.

Since the silver versions and the black versions take the same images, how they look is the only way to distinguish them.

In my case I can work out which took which shot by the fact that the file names are different, EP5Axxxx and EP5Bxxxx for the order in which they were bought.

Naturally right at this moment I have forgotten which is which, but I know they are different.

I swap batteries and SD cards back and forth between M43 cameras too!

I owned one. Great IQ, but I had too many problems with control wheels. I think a E-PL9 (as a second small camera) is just better now, unless you want to use a viewfinder (but in this case, you could go for the E-M10 iii).

The control wheels issue was very variable. My first E-P5 slowly went from flaky to totally dead dials over the period of a 6 weeks holiday. No problem, used it like my E-PL1 and got by. Fixed under warranty and perfect now for years.

My second E-P5 with a close serial number bought maybe 4 months later, dials perfect, still good after a few years.

Must have been a combination of a bad batch of top plates and just bad luck for the customer.

The top plate has been changed twice under warranty, but went bad twice after some months (the 2nd one however was still usable but annoying at some time)

No luck !

Re: EP5/Poor man's Pen F

Q for those with a VF-4 for their EP-5.

One thing which I find 'less' than the EM-5ii, is the VF-4 is considerably dimmer (most discernible when in the initial morn golden hour and later eve Golden hour).
AM I missing a 'setting' somewhere that might adjust the VF-4 brightness?

Given that, the VF-4 is still a great addition to my EP-5 and makes it as useful as any of my newer bodies. It's still my go-to for every long day hike or backpack.

One sacrilege I will inflict is to add a Sugru build-up for the grip. Seen some nice jobs online and the add-on grip I've seen available, doesn't thrill me.
Thanks for any suggestions on the VF-4...

I've bought this gem for around 100$. Only has 7000 shutter actuation and both control wheels working perfectly. Paired with 14-42mm ez, 42.5mm F1.8 YI M1 lens(now costs around 60$ and actually very sharp and very underrated lens IMO) and 40-150 R. All of it costs around 200 bucks lol. And with Aki Asahi's custom leatherette skin it looks stunning and very retro. Is anyone still using EP5?

The skin is handsome

Use Accessory Port Menu C to get to set the EVF brightness and colour temperature. The menu display switches to the EVF to set those things.

If you have not enabled the Accessory Port Menu then go to Setup Menu to do that.

No VF-4 here, only the VF-2 and for the first time in a few years I plugged it in to see how to adjust the brightness. (I never use EVFs). There does not seem to be much range of adjustment to the brightness, but that may be different for the VF-4.

From page 95 of the manual......

Thanks Guy!
I think I've gone by that section a bunch of times, and yet I must have a blind spot for this ... crazy!
I will check that see what the current setting is and adjust accordingly!
will follow up here to declare my lack of observation (a great characteristic for someone wanting do photography...  LOL!)
Thanks again

I purchased my E-P5 from the Olympus reconditioned site for $192 (best deal I have ever gotten). It experienced the dial skipping issue and Olympus fixed it under warranty and I have never had another issue. I have had it for 4 years.

I use my E-M1 more often (since I shot sports and wildlife most often) but for travel, events, walking around town, etc, I love the E-P5.

Complete good luck. I happened to see the E-P5 for a new low price of $239.99. I don't recall what it had previously been selling at but it was significantly more. I had no intention of buying a camera that day but I immediately ordered it. It sold out very quickly. I have never seen it on the reconditioned site since.

To top it off, they started a 20% off sale the next day. I called customer service and they refunded me the difference.

Sure, I'm still using it!!! I got the silver version, and I still love it!

This version is also very nice, and quite unique.

Congrats

Ah, one thing that E-P5 has better than Pen-F, and that's the main reason that I prefer the E-P5 over the Pen-F, it's the flash sych speed of 1/320, instead of 1/250. Not even many professional cameras can boast this.
