My first

My first real camera with a real lens (blame it all on Ken Rockwell)...   I LOVED it.  Ultimately my ego (and not my abilities) outgrew it...   I do wish I would have skipped the D3000 and kept this one.  SOLID (in my book).  Although - while I had it, I shot a buddies D40 (not X) - and often got better shots with less work out of it.  Food for thought.  I (still today) watch ebay for deals on a D40 - like to have one laying around with the right lens on it - would fit a purposed shooter - even at 6mp...

Re: My first

Know how you feel. Had D40x many years ago and wish I would have kept it. Was a great camera for it's time.

Re: My first

Back in the dayI had a D40 and a D60 and enjoyed both of them.  Every now and then I'll see one or the other being sold for cheap on my local Craigslist and am tempted to pick one up just for old times' sake.

But then I would have nine cameras and it probably wouldn't get much use.
