Seems we'll be getting the Panasonic GX10. And supposedly with a mic input (Horray!).

Now, if only it has updated the absolutely ancient EVF? They can't still reuse that 7(?) year old EVF can they? Just make it GX8 quality. They can keep the EVF size the same as the GX7 though changing to 4:3 would be useful.

Otherwise, besides the usual updates, and not that they would be deal-breakers but, a no crop 4k video (or a slight crop) would be very much appreciated. Weatherproofing would also be very much appreciated. Doubtful, or at least haven't heard of any news but a new sensor would also be nice.

Oh, live composite and better grip too, please

(Yeah, not asking much )

Panasonic have a habit of releasing cameras that are two steps forward and one step back compared with their predecessor. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be a clear, if incremental, improvement over the GX9, and doesn't try to "fix" things that aren't broken.

A nicer EVF would be appreciated, but personally I find the current one perfectly usable. For me improved AFC would be a higher priority.

The only thing that would completely kill my interest in it would be if they replaced the tilt screen with a side articulated one. I think I'd start seriously looking for a different camera system if there was no tilt screen upgrade option likely in the future.

While I’ve defended the evf on my GX85, I wouldn’t consider a purchase unless it’s replaced with larger and higher resolution. Otherwise the GX85 delivers all I need.

An LCD screen that tilts or articulates (like the S1?) And a rear wheel assembly that is stronger and less prone to skipping failure. Weather sealing would be nice (but it's already pretty good).

Sure, for some of their lower-end stuff they have on occasion.

GF1->GF2->GF3

GX7->GX85/80

and depending on how you look at it, GX8->GX9 though I consider the GX9 more of an update to GX85.

etc.

but certainly not for the GHx series, nor the G9. Those moved a few steps forward each time.

A nicer EVF would be appreciated, but personally I find the current one perfectly usable. For me improved AFC would be a higher priority.

AFC is certainly a priority but the EVF hasn't changed since 2013 (GX7) and wasn't all that impressive back then let alone now.

For a smaller bodied GX10, sure, a FAS is probably not warranted but if the GX10 is an actual GX8 replacement (yeah, won't be, I know, but I can dream), then I would prefer a FAS.

back then, If it wasn't for the EVF. I waited and upgraded my GF1 with the GX8 when it came out instead. So, I certainly wouldn't get the GX10 if it stayed with the same 7-year-old EVF.

Re: My next camera?

This is great news!

I was hoping to see the successor for the GX80 later this year and Panasonic is delivering. I know Panasonic released the GX9 in 2018 but I felt was more toward people who still using the GX7 and not the GX80 crowd. There weren't enough in the GX9 to warrant GX80 owners to upgrade.

However, this raise the question of how much of an upgrade the GX10 is over the GX9? It's hard to imagine what new Panasonic can add to a travel/personal camera that already exist in the GX9. I'm sure there will be a new processor and I have a feeling auto focus will play a big role in this new generation of M43 cameras rather than IQ. So I think face detect will be a lot better and similar or superior to of that found in the recent update in the G9.

So I can't wait to use the GX10 in my trip to the USA.

As a fellow GX85 user, I have really only three tweaks for me to upgrade.

1)  Viewfinder: this is a must for me to make a change at this point.  At least change format to 4:3 so that you use the whole screen when taking still pictures!

2)  Battery life:  Battery life of the GX9 is worse than on the GX85 which is ridiculous.

3)  Weather-resistant:  Granted; my GX85 has done well in some inclement weather conditions, but I would like to have some "official" weather protection added.

In return (especially if you improved ergonomics), I would accept a slight increase in size, say something in-between the present GX9 and the former GX8- but not quite as large as the GX8 was.

Regards,

Bernard

Yes, it is! Lol. That's pretty much what I would like Albeit, a little smaller would be nice, though not a deal-breaker. Bigger probably will be though.

My top 10 wish list:

1. Weather sealing

2. PDAF (I know...)

3. Mic jack - glad it’s announced!

4. Selfie screen like a6400. Otherwise GX9 tilt screen and smoother app connectivity. no FAS

5. 6.5 stops Dual IS

6. keystone correction in camera

7. hi-res mode

8. rear control dial can be mapped to more things.

9. UHS-II

10. Less long tilting EVF. I don’t care about OLED or 4:3 as much as I care that the GX9 tilt EVF often catches in my bag it pocket. Other improvements are welcome of course.

Agree with most along with faster processing, GX8 or better EVF (which sadly means long) and a full swivel/tilt screen but with the USB, mic and HDMI ports on the right side instead of the left so using it for video isn't hindered by connectors and cables. A GX8 MkII...

Definitely! I realize that the lenses included in these kits are deeply discounted and can be sold for a profit but I would rather avoid the hassle and have a lower-priced body to start with.

Use an OLED like that of G85, might still in 16:9 (so around 0.52x instead of 0.7x in 16:9) to keep the overall size of the body small...

Yet another wish list

Mine is short and simple:

- WR

- OLED EVF, with the tilting feature. OK if it's a bit on the small side to keep overall body size reasonable.

- about the same size as GX9, but a bit bigger would be OK.

- new kit lens option: 10mm or 12mm pancake, as fast as practical to keep it a pancake lens no bigger than the 20mm.

- body-only option.

- wireless connectivity revamped for better ease-of-use, reliability, wireless range and perhaps direct Internet access (either while tethered to a phone or even with its own SIM card)

- to accompany that, a major overhaul of the Image app to give full control over everything that doesn't absolutely require activating a physical switch, button or dial, and also to remove the silly limitation on transferring raw files over wireless.

All that said, what I actually expect is little more than the usual incremental upgrades (faster burst, better video spec, etc.) and maybe one or two new bells and whistles...

Yeah I`d like to see a GX8 Mk11 , the GX8 size with the tilting EVF etc with all the bells and whistles of the G9 . It would be a winner Panasonic. Or else I will just stick to my old and trusted GX8 forever.

Riiiight. All this, including better EVF + battery life + more Fn buttons which all normally go hand in hand with larger size - not to mention price - with the same GX9 form factor and all that at 800$.
