Attaching a T6i to an Opteka GH1 gimbal

When I attach a microphone to my camera, it is too wide to properly fit on the Opteka GH! gimbal attached to my tripod. What alternative ways, or additional equipment, do I need to make a steady, secure connection?
Here are photos of the arrangement:

You gimbal should have and adjustable attachment so that you can move the camera back and forth to get it perfectly balanced. You will want to adjust the zoom level before attaching it. It looks like you have it super far forward on the mount, move to back till it balances.

Dear Kirk Sachs,

Your reply talked about moving the camera "back and forth" and that's the whole problem - it's too wide to move back and forth. However, when you talked about adjusting the gimbal, it inspired me to look closer at how it can be adjusted. It can be adjusted up and down! By sliding the base (the rail?) up to the very top of its range, there is no longer the vertical metal part of the tripod blocking the width of the camera -- there is just enough space to properly place the camera, microphone and all.

Thanks for your feedback!

That may work, but it's not the correct way to use the gimbal. What you need is a long arca-swiss plate for your camera so the camera can sit back further and balance better.
